Barring a miracle, Wash against coming back, which sets up a UConn-Syracuse final.

Not having KLS will weaken our press breaking a bit, as she has size and good passing ability. Though we do at least still have Stew & Tuck to help with that.

UConn has the athleticism to play uptempo with them, but I'd think would want to avoid the helter skelter play that the Cuse likes.

How does this Syracuse team compare to the old Rutgers' teams?

Their relentless pressure and confidence are reminiscent. Obviously better shooters.

Assuming they do win the game (I still hope Washington can pull off the comeback), Syracuse will get open looks from 3. Hopefully not as many as Washington is giving them. How Syracuse hits 3s, whether open or contested, will determine whether this game is close or not.

Syracuse presses and defends aggressively, and earns a lot of turnovers as a result. Chances are they will not be as disruptive against UConn as they have against Washington though. If UConn positions its players correctly, they should be able to make Syracuse pay with their press-breaking.

A lot will depend on how the game is called. Our games with them in the past were very physical. That is what has lead to the bad feelings between us and Syracuse. The reffing in the Washington game does not encourage me as to how it will be called.

The once and still greatest women's basketball league: The (Old) Big East

Syracuse clobbers Pac-12's Washington, and Connecticut clobbers Pac-12's league champion.

The (Old) Big East teams in the NCAA tournament: 17 wins and 7 losses.

No worries, DEE will reign.

I don't see similarities between Syracuse and the old Rutgers teams. Rutgers played man defense and Syracuse plays zone. Rutgers wanted to make the game a half-court game and limit the number of possessions while Syracuse wants to speed up the game and generate a lot of possessions.

The worst thing a team can do against Syracuse is think they can dribble through the full court pressure. UConn has the size to pass over the pressure and avoid dribbling in to the traps. Not having Lou and her size will hurt a bit but UConn has enough experience and composure to handle the pressure. UConn will be prepared to attack Syracuse's pressure.

Thanks.

It's Syracuse Tuesday for the championship. Syracuse 80 - UW 69.

Those of you that wanted Syracuse, you'll get your wish.

I was checking the box scores on ESPN and the Syracuse box has 17 listed names. How many players are allowed on a team?
Who are the others? Red Shirts? Walk ons? Sabbaticals? ESPN mistakes?

In addition. Syracuse has not seen the type of defense UConn play, e.g. the disruption that Gabby William causes. UConn by 15.

Actually they have 18 players not 17.

15 on scholarship, 20 on the roster(100% sure of the first number and pretty sure of the second).

Thank you. As long as they are not heavies Quentin Hillsman is planning to unload on Stewart, I will not worry.

Anybody on Q's bench beyond the 3rd player, is not going to see any game time. With respect to the players towards the end of the bench, You and I have a better chance of getting into the game than they do.
Q can't even see down that far. Those players are strictly cheerleaders that got to dress out for the game, and are happy to be there.

Last time I was at the Carrier Dome it was for a Cuse vs Uconn men's game. Cuse won. 3 years ago. I think that is what sold my kid on Cuse.

Make no mistake; UConn has its work cut out for it. The Huskies' practice tomorrow will be critical preparation time. The Texas game showed that UConn isn't immune to intense defensive pressure, and Syracuse has a better full-court press than Texas does.

I would start Chong. She is a three point threat against the zone and a good ball handler. If she starts cold AND is getting beat on D then bring in Gabby.

I was thinking the same! Wasn't Chong the one who hit a huge three against Maryland back in Dec and played valuable minutes in crucial time? I think she'll get her minutes.

I've got a question that I would like some feedback on..........
We're playing Syracuse for the national championship Tuesday. This is THE game that Geno, his staff and the team have been practicing and training for since way back in October.
I completely understand the brevity and the importance of this game, we all do.

My question is: How much more (if any) will we as fans will be concerned about Syracuse and their potential of beating the huskies NOW, than we would have been back in December when UConn wanted to play them in New York, and were denied? Another way of asking is, are they more scary now, than they were back in December? I'm sure they will be some posters that will voice some concerns about Syracuse.
I'm not suggesting that we take Syracuse lightly. That's a good way to get beat. Are as good as we perceived Oregon State to be?

How much more or less should we be concerned. As much as we were over Oregon State, or less? The last three tournament, there was one team that gave UConn a tough and competitive game.
Three years ago it was BYU. Two years ago it was Dayton. Last year it was Notre Dame. This year we're down to one, and no team has really presented a formidable challenge so far. Is Syracuse the one?

Not that this is a way to predict outcomes of games, UConn just beat (obliterated being ESPNs word) an Oregon State team that lost to Notre Dame by 1 point and will now play a team that Notre Dame had no trouble with in the ACC championship game. Syracuse has gotten hot at the right time, but as others have mentioned, they haven't played a defense like UConn yet. They also haven't had to defend against all the weapons UConn has. I don't want to cause any kind of bad mojo or jinx them at all, but I believe they will be focused when the game starts. It will be business as usual for them like today was. I am also hoping that Stewie takes the game a bit personally and drops career highs on them. Geno is also 10-0 in championship games. Completely stressed out or not, he knows how to get his teams ready for the biggest game of the season.
