Make no mistake; UConn has its work cut out for it. The Huskies' practice tomorrow will be critical preparation time. The Texas game showed that UConn isn't immune to intense defensive pressure, and Syracuse has a better full-court press than Texas does.

I would start Chong. She is a three point threat against the zone and a good ball handler. If she starts cold AND is getting beat on D then bring in Gabby.

I was thinking the same! Wasn't Chong the one who hit a huge three against Maryland back in Dec and played valuable minutes in crucial time? I think she'll get her minutes.

I've got a question that I would like some feedback on..........
We're playing Syracuse for the national championship Tuesday. This is THE game that Geno, his staff and the team have been practicing and training for since way back in October.
I completely understand the brevity and the importance of this game, we all do.

My question is: How much more (if any) will we as fans will be concerned about Syracuse and their potential of beating the huskies NOW, than we would have been back in December when UConn wanted to play them in New York, and were denied? Another way of asking is, are they more scary now, than they were back in December? I'm sure they will be some posters that will voice some concerns about Syracuse.
I'm not suggesting that we take Syracuse lightly. That's a good way to get beat. Are as good as we perceived Oregon State to be?

How much more or less should we be concerned. As much as we were over Oregon State, or less? The last three tournament, there was one team that gave UConn a tough and competitive game.
Three years ago it was BYU. Two years ago it was Dayton. Last year it was Notre Dame. This year we're down to one, and no team has really presented a formidable challenge so far. Is Syracuse the one?

Not that this is a way to predict outcomes of games, UConn just beat (obliterated being ESPNs word) an Oregon State team that lost to Notre Dame by 1 point and will now play a team that Notre Dame had no trouble with in the ACC championship game. Syracuse has gotten hot at the right time, but as others have mentioned, they haven't played a defense like UConn yet. They also haven't had to defend against all the weapons UConn has. I don't want to cause any kind of bad mojo or jinx them at all, but I believe they will be focused when the game starts. It will be business as usual for them like today was. I am also hoping that Stewie takes the game a bit personally and drops career highs on them. Geno is also 10-0 in championship games. Completely stressed out or not, he knows how to get his teams ready for the biggest game of the season.

I'm not so sure. You see who started the second have when Lou could not answer the bell. He went to one of the two bench players that have been in the game rotation since the tournament began.
I'm not saying Chong won't see some minutes. I saying if that were the case, he could have put her out there this evening. Instead, he rotated Gabby and Collier, who by the way did an excellent job.

Lobo50 fan - My sentiments exactly!!!!! Since this will be the last round-up for this team, I'd also like to see Stewie score 40, and DUNK on them twice. THAT would hold 'em.
THAT would give WCBB something to talk about for a few weeks.

Syracuse is clearly a much better team than they were in December. There can be no doubt of that.

I think Syracuse is more of a concern than OSU only because their style of play really raises the stakes, forcing you to execute well or else pay a very steep price (in the form of turnovers and giving up 3's).

Syracuse is not a good 3 point shooting team, or foul shooting. Overall they don't seem to have enough offense to cause us a lot of problems, KLS or not. They lost most of their games (7) v.s.any good teams during the regular season Notre Dame, North Carolina, Maryland, etc. UCONN should prevail on Tuesday night.

Given we have the athletes (and Washington did not), I would like to see UConn put some sort of press on the Cuse. Usually, pressing teams don't like getting pressed. Do this only as a way to disrupt them if they get into a rhythm. It is another way to get them to rush their 3pt attempts and cause them to miss. UConn risks getting into a hectic game, which is what Cuse likes, but UConn can play that type of game also. UConn must not be passive. Once they break the press they must punish them an go straight to the basket. I also feel the officials will dictate how this game will play out. Washington's Plum was fouled a lot and there were no calls.

They beat SC when it mattered the most and are playing with house money. UConn is no SC, and we should win, but it may not go as smooth as it should

Tuck, Napressa and Gabby are going to murder the interior of the match up zone D. Stewie will hit from the gaps also. It could get ugly.
I agree. 'Cuse is in over their heads. They have already overachieved getting to the finals, with seven losses in the regular season.

I've been wondering about the dunk thing. The NC game is not a good time to be trying it. And dunking against Syracuse could be taken as bad form.

Or not!

Texas didn't press UConn much and when it did press some in the second half it wasn't that effective. UConn shot 56%, made 12 three-pointers and scored 86 points against Texas. UConn struggled in certain areas against Texas but it had nothing to do with Texas's defensive pressure.

And note that against Texas the Big Three were often the ones bringing the ball up. A coach could do worse.

Chong is too much of a defensive liability

By the end of 2Q, the Huskies will make people believe that Quentin Hillsman would be better off playing Coppin State.

UCONN and 'cuse have some bad blood going back several years.
Maya Moore scores 40 in the Carolyn Doty injury/ MM "Coach we got this" late in the game to Geno, no subs, UCONN wins by 40+!
QH does not want to schedule Stewie's Senior year homecoming game /CT schedules Colgate instead.
UCONN Coaches & Players don't like 'cuse cockiness when until now they ain't done nothin'!
The 'cuse player trips Geno and he reprimands her. (MM 40 game)
And if you want to go WAY BACK, 'cuse beats UCONN during season around 1996, Washington 'cuse coach, they went nuts after the game as if they won the National Title!
This game with Ore. St. was the Nervous Nelly Game to get into the Finals, UCONN will be at it's usual best and beat Syracuse
85 to 56 for the 11th Championship and 4th in a row!

With Lou out Gabby really has to defend without fouling.
