UConn stats.... How much scoring graduated..??

Yes and no. The data is indeed a simple fact. But the way we try to use it is not. Comparisons across teams, projections of future production, and in short most of what fans like to do with data is vulnerable to noise in the data. And not accounting for differences between stats accumulated in blowouts introduces a lot of noise into the analysis.
My argument isn't about data use. The claim that, "a simpler fix that would improve the reliability of the data..." isn't accurate. As far as we know, the data is completely reliable. This just proposes a specific way of looking at to analyze player performance during specific time periods.

Sure. That’s not false. However you have misread my remarks, which pretty clearly pointed to the use we make of the data, not the nature of data itself.

First and foremost, thank you @DavidinNaples for the dedication to the stat analysis. If anything I have learned from Geno and CD, akin to the “King is dead, long live the King”, we always seem to know how to replace scoring and this coming year will be no exception. In fact, I think this could be one of our top offensive teams of all time. The team will have great ball movement, experienced inside players, proven outside shooters and a few quick and lithe players. Replacing Paige’s scoring isn’t the issue but as correctly noted, we need her leadership void to get filled and all eyes will be on Azzi who is capable. I am definitely looking forward to the offense and how the team evolves.

Can a team full of betas still dominate — this seems to be the question you’re posing. And in this light Paige was an interesting sort of alpha in being the chief bucket-getter as well as the dominant personality. Geno’s coached teams where those two functions weren’t combined. The first two Stewie-led teams were like that. On the other hand, Diana’s teams were exactly like Paige’s teams, with an alpha bucket-getter. Maya's teams too.

As for playing stars out of position and being vulnerable to opposing bigs, that certainly describes the last two seasons. Paige as power forward, Aaliyah as center constantly struggled with this, but at the same time Geno was working on the small ball lineups that could eventually solve the problem. In the last NC run, he finally had the right personnel (and enough of them) to make the formula work. Geno lost the magic alpha, added a workhorse big, and a wild card in Blanca. This and the potential recovery of a cadre of big fast wings makes us both one of the biggest teams in the country and one of the quickest. This is a combination we haven’t seen before. Uncharted territory.
Not sure I would categorize this team as all betas? Not saying you are, of course. Sure, Paige was the big dog last season (actually since she arrived) but I’m betting we will have plenty of leadership from the likes of Sarah, Azzi, Caroline, KK, Ash, Serah, Jana, and Ice. I realize it may have to be by committee, but I have confidence they’ll step up and get the job done!
