I noticed the same thing a few weeks ago since I don’t remember him being as good as his stats last year. And as you pointed out he had a great week against the lower level competition we played in last years abbreviated schedule. With TC now hurt and Ben Maycock looking just an inept at the plate, Kevin ferrer being a liability in the field Penders doesn’t have great options at the moment.

Ah, Ben Maycock. I have to admit that he always intrigued me with the interesting and bizarre stats he has put up in summer ball, but when given the chance at UConn he has never taken advantage of it (in that respect he is similar to Aaron Hill). Maycock had his big chance at the beginning of last season when he was the starting right fielder, but he went on a big strikeout run at the bat and that pretty much took care of that. For me Maycock is the position player equivalent of Joe Simeone, another guy who has intrigued me for a few years and who is still trying to truly establish himself in the starting rotation.

Top 1st, a leadoff single and a walk put two runners on for UConn with no out. Christian Fedko with a one out rbi single to make it 1-0 going to the bottom of the inning as the Huskies strand two runners.

Great move to slide Pat Wink down the lineup. His stats with runners in scoring position must be anemic.

Bottom 1st, Peterson with a quick 1-2-3 inning. Huskies could really use a quality start from him today just to get a good boost in confidence.

Chris Jones putting in his two cents in again about giving Andy Hague a shot at playing shortstop again.

Jones is broadcasting the game from out in center field, instead of being down the right field side of the field as he has the last couple of days. Too many fans were trying to talk to him during the broadcast the last couple of days, you could hear a little of it at times during the half inning breaks.

Bottom 2nd, Peterson with a scoreless inning after giving up a one out walk. Also had two strikeouts that inning for a total of 3 on the game so far.

Kept waiting for the dreaded hot mic issue to raise its head 😵

Top 3rd, UConn gets a couple runners on, but the inning ends on a double play with no runs coming in. 1-0 UConn.

Bottom 4th, Hawks with a leadoff single, followed by three outs for Peterson including 2 more strikeouts. 2-0 UConn.

Been MIA watching hoops, but now that my bracket is busted I can place my full attention back on baseball. Nice to see the boys back in the northeast.

Bottom 5th, Peterson retires the side in order, aided by a quality defensive play by Bushling.

Games can be a lot more relaxing when you get a starting pitcher to perform like this. Peterson is just what the doctor ordered today.

Top 6th, Kevin Ferrer with a leadoff triple. Brown with a one out rbi single to make it 5-0. UConn hitting this inning, Kyler Fedko with an rbi single, 6-0 UConn with runners on the corners and 1 out.

Ferrer has some wheels. That was not an obvious triple but his hustle and speed made that happen. Damn

Crawford rbi single makes it 7-0 with one out and runners on the corners, still in the top of the 6th. This train is rolling right now for the moment.
