While yesterday’s games all teased promise of upsets, today delivered in spades!
Thank you @RockyMTblue2 for posting the OU presser and yeah, that was very disappointing by Coach B on skipping the opening statement. I lost a bit of respect on that.
As noted by many, DEFENSE travels and our women are locked in! Pack the paint again on Monday and watch KK torture Kayleigh Heckel.
Texas A&M may have the 12th Man but we may well have our 12th TITLE…

Wow! Vegas just posted the opening line for UCONN/ USC.
Believe it or not, the Huskies are favored by 13.5 points!
That is a lot of points even though Juju is out.
Interesting. I suppose UConn is one of the few teams (maybe the only one?) that didn’t underperform in this round. Perhaps that’s what ‘Vegas’ is thinking. UConn didn’t just hold a high scoring team below their season scoring average. 59 points was OU’s lowest total all season. And they did this despite having a rough start in the 1st half.

Sorry but u crazy.

Did you see the analysis where UConn had 3 players hovering around Beers? She was neutralized because UConn played good team defense and OU didn’t have enough good players to make UConn pay. Perhaps if Beers and Co had stayed at OSU, she would’ve had better support.

Jana is miles from Beers.
UConn switched up its defenses on Beers. As the game wore on, there were few plays where she was surrounded by a trio of players, and many plays where she was guarded straight up by Jana. But don't let facts get in the way of the narrative you want to push.

lol the narrative I want to push? What, that Beers is much much better than Jana? Yeah me and 99.99% of people who watch WCBB believe that “narrative.”

The narrative that says that Jana was ineffective on defense against Beers. I agree that Beers is a better passer than Jana at this point in Jana's career, and that she is a better low post scorer. However, in this thread you were challenging the claim that Jana did a good job of holding Beers in check. She did. This does not mean that she did so alone, or that there were no other defenses deployed against Beers. Two explanations (for the fact that Beers only scored 10 points) can be true at once.

Interesting to note - The elite eight games were all decided by less than 10 points, except for Uconn's 23 and UCLA's 14.

Very competitive games for everyone else.

FYI The women are allowed to use 'March Madness' at a time when the Madness has all but disappeared! Chalk is pretty much holding for both Men and Women. There were a few upsets the first weekend, But it is down to 1 and 2 seeds with a 3 seed replacing a 2 for the women, and the same for the men.

This is the real result of the portal and NIL - the mid-majors are now farm teams for the power teams.

What will Geno do once Paige has moved on? What she did this evening was astounding. I don’t mean scoring 40. Others have scored more. Others have made important plays. But carrying the team like she did, taking control of the game, that’s really special. The pressure of the game was overwhelming and was taking its toll, and she stepped up and met the moment.

In the locker room interviews someone asked Ash if she’d ever seen someone score the first 19 pts in a quarter and she replied, “I have now.” Ash will remember this feeling. They all will.

The intensity that Paige can turn on in the most meaningful games is practically incandescent, and her teammates just get swept up in it. When she speaks to them in a game, they listen, they hear her, they take it to heart.

There’s bound to be a void next season, a gap all the kids who’ve played with her will feel. It will be up to Azzi Caroline Sarah KK Ash Ice Ayanna and Jana to make up for the lack. It may take more than one of them to fill it up. I can hardly wait to see how they respond to the next challenge.

Think how fortunate Kaitlyn must feel that she got the chance to experience Paige as a teammate, if only for one year.

I watched the entire USC/KS game, so I am not surprised about the spread. It was an even game, USC pulling away at the end, but it could have gone either way. Not a classic by far, USC would have won big with Juju, and while the matchup Monday everyone wanted won't be there, I am glad USC is in the elite eight. Iriafen did not have a great game, she was doubled and tripled as soon as she got the ball. That left a couple of freshman free as outside shooters to score and they did. We will not do that. We are way above KS in defending and scoring and if we play anything close to our standard, it will be a big win.

I liked Chen's game as well. She looked like a free safety at times going after the ball.

Jana had some nice rebounds but needs to control those balls and not commit turnovers.

Shade is just plain tough.

And Paige was simply outstanding. Great game.
Fasting from dawn to dusk should be over Saturday night (yesterday), so Jana should be full strength for Monday night.

The dropping the ball out of bounds tonight should not be happening vs. USC, and her shooting should improve as well. Being an old wrestler, not being "fully fueled" tends to drop one's performance at the end of matches. Jana was setting some "hammer" screens for Paige to get her 1/10 of a second she needs to get off some amazing shots. Now if she [Jana] can put the pick & roll into her tool box AND hit the layups....

All available Huskies should be enough vs. USC, plus Paige is on a very positive roll on this last push for a NC!

Go Huskies!!!

Yes she is

The four Elite Eight games include:
Three games with #1 vs. #2
One game with #1 vs. #3
I for one am hoping for the #3 in the #1 vs. #3 matchup. That would allow Geno, CD and Co. take it to the teams with multiple NC's: coached by Kim & Dawn in the Final Four.

BUT,,,, need to take care of business by winning the play in front of them all the way through the next three games, one game at a time, one play at a time.... USC is up next to be taken down by the Huskies as a complete team with an absolutely on fire Paige "Buckets!"

Go Huskies!!!

When Arnold and Shade enter the game, the intensity level ramps up to a different level. regardless of what the first half looked like, I think that it was obvious that Oklahoma could not match UConn’s speed, intensity, and aggressiveness for an entire game. This group is just flat out physically tough with a defensive mentality that is hard to prepare for.
