UConn Official Student Section: The Pack

1.) Designing branding for a student section is about the most inauthentic, trying too hard thing I can think of.

2.) Having a 19 year old come up with some stuff is worse.

3.) Not vetting his work is indescribable.

4.) Throwing them under the bus is bush league. It's a kid.

Hats and neckerchiefs too I think.
Hats I remember. I'm not sure if neckerchiefs changed but it was a while ago. Good merchandising to change things up with every rank, I guess.

Cub Scouts is a good program. Boy Scouts is a great one. Really one of the few places that boys can learn self-sufficiency and actually get 'real' leadership experience.

Well, maybe someone from NC State.

The funniest part is someone pointed out the NC State Logo used clip art. just google Wolfpack clip art and its the 3rd image that comes up. Some kid at NC State probably stole that too.

.-.
Yeah, been avoiding r/cbb since this happened. There's this post and the original announcement post which also generated a lot of traffic.

It's all been pretty light-hearted. Not much sanctimony.

We are UConn. Just call the section “The Territory” and move on.

.-.
Probably the best sign/placement combo ever in a student section... anywhere.

Look, I mean, it should be called “The Boneyard”

Whatever. The school just needs to pick a flipping name and focus on ways to get people to actually show up instead of expending all this energy thinking of what to name a bunch of empty chairs.

and then rename it again in a few years because the chairs are still empty.

In my opinion the Athletic Dept. spends too much time on half-hearted attempts to "manufacture tradition" with little thought and less follow through. In the process it ignores or destroys the traditions that evolved organically.

Look, if you are going to do it, have school wide contest for the name and or artwork with a big enough prize that it generate buzz. Actually have someone with half a brain vet the work to make sure it is original. Then have a big naming and award ceremony. But frankly, I don't think it worth the effort. Want a better student section? Put it on the sidelines.
