Ehhhhh…..he hasn’t really shown that the Pelicans should ever consider doing this in a real game lol. Just hoping that he hasn’t lost his confidence in his normal playstyle as a movement shooter
It’s probably on Hawkins to get good at it or the Pelicans can’t play him as much as they’d like to. He’s a much better player for them if he can learn to create on his own as well.

Summer league is usually a bunch of guys looking out for themselves but Sanogo was the first guy to run over to DJ Steward and jump on him after hitting the game winner

37 for Steward with 8 threes (!!!). Sanogo with a solid game as well, 17 points and 9 assists on 86% shooting
Gotta check for some highlights of that game.
Portland playing late on ESPN2.

Not trying to peddle copium (as Tristen shooting 3's at a 35%+ clip would definitely help his cause to stick with at least a 2-way contract), but fwiw there's a TON of horrific shooting going on in the summer league...even by guys that were known as very good 3pt shooters in college.

Perusing the box scores, most teams are shooting 25%ish, most players shooting a decent volume of shots are shooting meh/good at best. For example last night, min 5 shots attempted:

The Bad/Meh-ish:

Furphy: 1-8
Newton: 2-8
T. Alexander 2-7
W. Ellis: 1-6
GG Jackson: 2-7
J. Hawkins: 2-7
K. George: 1-5
P. Baldwin: 1-5
M. Jones: 0-6
C. Brown Jr: 1-5
J. Martin: 1-5
K. Johnson: 1-8
E. Bates: 3-12
P. Nance: 2-8
L. Miller: 1-5
R. Dillingham: 2-7
D. Nix: 2-7
J. Clark: 1-6
R. Sheppard: 0-5

The Meh+/Good/Very Good:

H. Tyson: 3-6
J. Wells: 3-9
A. Reeves: 3-5
J. Ford: 3-5
T. Funk: 3-6
B. Carrington: 2-6
J. Bernard: 3-9
B. Ellis: 3-6
N. Clowney: 5-8
J. Wilson: 6-7
T. Martin: 3-7
D. Knecht: 2-6
B. Hinson: 2-6
T. Hendricks: 2-5
M. Abmas: 2-5
J. Minott: 2-5
A. Griffin: 2-6
Look at Portland last night 9 guys were 0fers from 3 while Clingan was 2-7.

Couldn’t stay awake for the whole game but checking box scores it looks like Clingan dominated despite a big loss. Will need to try to find a replay or extended highlights but 16 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks on 54% FG and 2-7 from three

Clingan has looked pretty great and I couldn't be happier. His offense/touch is certainly a work in progress but he looks good in the pnr with guards who are missing the roll. His defense has been awesome, he's rebounding great, and the passing we've all seen is opening others eyes. He hasn't made many of them but the Blazers are letting him shoot threes like crazy so they believe in that being a part of his game. Made one the game before and made two last night.

Pretty good first half from Newton. 2 threes, few rebounds, 50% shooting

Looks a lot more decisive with the ball
Hopefully that continues. I have this game on record while I watch The Basketball Tournament with Stars of Storrs.

Not sure if others knew, Isaiah Whaley is playing for Dallas’ summer league team. Looks like he had a solid game vs Boston last night.

I really hope hawkins finds minutes on the opening day roster but nothing he's done in summer league warrants it so far 3 quarters left hopefully can find his shot a little. Stroke is so pure just hasn't been finding the basket

He didn't take a single 3 in a half?
Was struggling to get open but then had a mean looking ankle injury. Hoping he’s okay and it’s nothing serious, I’d be shocked if he played again today
