Disagree. Our goal should be a 1 seed, which should be doable if we win out. We have the #1 SOS, a NET ranking of #2, are #1 in our conference, have only lost to top 10 AP teams.I think our goal should be the overall 2 or 3 seed, which should be doable if we win out
I'm not sure if you misread - he is suggesting the #2 (or #3) #1 seed. At this point, baring a collapse, South Carolina will most likely be the #1 #1 seed. Even with one loss, if that happens, I'm not sure who you would move past them, the problem for UConn being specifically that you lost to them.Disagree. I would agree that - as of now - he is spot on. Depending on the rest of the season - for example if LSU upset South Carolina, not likely - there are probably some scenarios that would make UConn the third #1, but - once LSU takes expected losses and Indiana presumably does not go undefeated for the season - I would have UConn as the second #1 seed.
I apologize, @SLY63!Every season, we hear some committee mouthpiece explain that a team received a low seeding or missed the tournament because of their weak out of conference schedule. But LSU's 310th non conference SOS is totally ignored as they move up the polls. Even after playing their SEC schedule, their combined SOS is still an anemic #112.We need SC to blow out LSU. Finally, they will have to step up and show the nation if they are contenders or pretenders. Without Reese, they are an average team IMHO.
Our wins against Duke and Iowa continue to look better and better.
Definitely looking forward to that LSU/South Carolina game, I think Sunday, as well as the Iowa/Indiana game Thursday. Should be some intense basketball games over the next 6-7 days.We need SC to blow out LSU. Finally, they will have to step up and show the nation if they are contenders or pretenders. Without Reese, they are an average team IMHO.
The problem is that the Duke, Iowa, and Texas wins came with Azzi on the court, and the concern is that the selection committee might take that into account. Our wins against Duke and Iowa continue to look better and better.
LSU would be in serious trouble without Reese and I am sure Kim knows that. I think that is one reason she has not done much to change her behavior on the court. She knows that if she sits her it is a likely loss.We need SC to blow out LSU. Finally, they will have to step up and show the nation if they are contenders or pretenders. When Azzi comes back, that is a moot point. The problem is that the Duke, Iowa, and Texas wins came with Azzi on the court, and the concern is that the selection committee might take that into account.
Agreed about Indiana. Plus, I think they have to toughest remaining regular season schedule of any team in the country (Iowa twice, Ohio State, Michigan, and Purdue). I’m pleasantly surprised at how good Indiana is this year despite who they lost to graduation and missing Berger for (I think) a few games.UConn moved up! No complaining for me this time.
LSU and Indiana were neck and neck with voters. Some people just realllyyyyy wanted that #1v#2 matchup I guess. But IMO Indiana deserves it more right now.
Well to be fair the NCAA Committee and the AP/Coaches pollsters are not the same. We haven't heard yet what the NCAA Committee is thinking.Every season, we hear some committee mouthpiece explain that a team received a low seeding or missed the tournament because of their weak out of conference schedule.
