UConn MHOC 23-24

Cav gave credit to Joe Pereira for finding Matthew Wood

Did not expect to lose Terness

Cav thinks Chase Bradley has a good chance at the NHL. Pierre McGuire agrees with Bradley being an NHLer. Thinks he will play in the NHL sooner rather than later. Called him a steal in the 5th round

Leery of recruiting kids out of the portal who have only played a couple years at another school

Mentioned Wyatt Newpower as someone who did not play much his sophomore year and instead of transferring said he wanted to play at UConn. Cav told him he has to stay on campus all summer, train better, and had to be more coachable. Eventually became captain and voted best dman in the league.

Wow - I wouldn't have guessed that. Do you know who is #2?? thx!
Sean Ambrosie (‘09-‘13) played 150

Jake Flynn is at 139 but he’s missed the last 2 games with injury. He could still end up 2nd if he returns soon

7 HE games left in the season, 21 points out there for the taking. I think that with this team, going 4-3 down the stretch is about as good as they can do. They would finish with 35 points. That would be probably be good for 5th or 6th in the league. Realistically, how many of you puckheads out there expect better than that?????

I think 5th is highly unlikely, 6th a reach. I predict 7th.

It's almost guaranteed that the PWR cut line for at large bids will be 14 this year since the highest Atlantic and CCHA teams are currently sitting in the 20s and won't move into the top 16.

It's also so hard to move from the high teens (17-19) into an at-large spot. For some reason you can move up from the 20s into that group, but it's a brick wall once you get there. For instance
14. St. Cloud - 48% chance for at-large
15. Michigan - 42%
16. CC - 33%
17. ASU - 2%
18. Omaha - 3%

My nephew (now in college) played youth hockey in Fairfield and his coach was Mark Messier. New England and New York is littered with former NHL greats and Hall of Famers. Why can't we get guys like that to associate with our program? Not necessarily as head coach but as consultants or ambassadors.

UNH being 17 in pairwise and 6th in Hockey East is pretty crazy
UNH entered last weekend 16th in the Pairwise

Swept 6th ranked Maine 6-2 and 5-2 but fell to 17th in the Pairwise
