It’s a blah matchup but it doesn’t really matter. We have a new coach coming in and there’s a great chance that our best players won’t even play in the game. I’ll watch and pull for a win, but I think our fan base has moved onto the future mentally for this year. I’d rather play Army in Fenway than play a solid P4 without our stars and get drilled. Yes, it’s disappointing but it isn’t too big a deal given the circumstances.

Would have been nice to play in a different bowl. Cheap travel costs for team and fans though.
No offense, but this misses the point of what a bowl game should be. It's not just about the game, but also about the festivities. I've been to the Fenway Bowl for the past two years. The festivities really don't exist with this bowl game. It's just another game. It's one of the worst bowl games out there in this regard.

Fenway was great last year but you’re right, no festivities whatsoever. Any players who played last year will be underwhelmed.

See, I thought the atmosphere was fun. Fenway is cozy, has good concessions, and I like the feeling of UConn fans pouring into neighboring states and dominating venues like MSG and Fenway.

I'd agree that for fans who have to travel from outside the region, Fenway might be a disappointment.

-> "We're honored to accept the invitation to return to the Wasabi Fenway Bowl. Last year's experience was memorable—our victory over North Carolina, combined with our incredible fanbase helping set a Fenway Bowl attendance record, showed what UConn football is all about" stated interim head coach Gordon Sammis. "We're excited to build on that success and create more special memories at historic Fenway Park. Playing at such an iconic venue is a unique opportunity and our players have worked exceptionally hard this season to put themselves in position for a 10th win and what would be a historic season for UConn football. They've earned the chance to return to Boston and compete on this special stage once again." <-

People need to get a grip. This is one of the best paying and prominent bowls a g5 can get into. And the date/ time is more in line with all the important bowls, on the espn flagship for lots of eyes

Army is renowned nationally no matter what, and this years version gives us a good chance at 10 wins and maybe even close to a top 25 finish. We were lucky to get it last year, and yes we are lucky to get it this year. Most years we would be in Myrtle Beach playing Coastal Carolina or Marshall making 500,000 and spending it all on travel and logistics.

Novelty of Fenway (even in second year), good clash of styles, Army and their presence. Will be good UConn crowd again (maybe even bigger with better weather and 2:30 start). Short travel puts more dough in UConn coffers. Saturday game post-Christmas versus some mid-week pre-holiday game. Sign me up to root my ass off for 10 wins without plane, hotel costs.

Will Candle be able to watch and assess the team during the bowl prep period?

Does anyone have the real answer?

The game last year was fine. But if you've ever been to another bowl game before, there are usually events the day before, there's a whole deal...and that quite literally does not exist with the Fenway Bowl. It's just a game. That's it.
I have not, so I guess my expectations are fairly low. Plus I'm not one who can afford to spend money on lodging, etc.

Fenway was great last year. ACC opponent, easy for UConn fans to get to. But this year it kinda feels like a step back. Will go regardless but was hoping this time for a trip somewhere else
Fenway sucks for football, there’s no usual day-of events like normal bowls, it’s just a very mid bowl. When you throw in the weather too it’s a no-brainer why no P4 teams want to go here.

But we still gotta show up…
