I could have done without Martin's 3 point barrage. I'd have been fine if she just put up her average points per game and it would not have diminished my enjoyment of this game one bit.
For some unknown reason, some players have a good game against UConn. The Huskies get everybody's best effort. Today was martin's turn to feel her oats. The next game, she won't shoot like that. Their next game (13) NC St. Dec 1, will be formidable, but they won't be UConn. Everybody want to take down the Huskies.

This would explain a lot. She was as tenacious as ever on D, and she took the ball to the rim in the second minute of the game -- the new Nika!!! -- but she seemed to be a little less in charge on the floor, and the team seemed a bit adrift at moments. I think this shows, yet again, how much the team depends on her.
I said in chat that she seemed to be losing focus at times. This maybe offers an explanation. She played well on both ends but had some uncharacteristic lapses... Hope it doesn't linger, in many ways she's our most irreplaceable player.

IMO, it was more a case that they couldn’t figure out the triangle and two that Rebecca illustrated so well. Geno figured it out and corrected the problem at halftime, though

Really good coaching job by Geno today
Yes!! Geno earned his salary today. Does anyone one know if the women will attend the men's game later today and fly back with them, or are they already on their way back? My guess is both teams arrived together, they leave together. No need to pay for two charters coming back.

Super game from AE both offensively and defensively in shutting down Cziano, plus the solid rebounding. She was clearly the POG.

It's hard to see how this game was close when we shot 55% overall and had 16 more rebounds. Do we have to shoot over 50% to win? That was a weird game.

Personally, I want AE, Caroline, Aubrey and Lou on the court for 30 minutes a game and I'd bribe the ref to let Azzi play 45 minutes. Here we are with all these great players injured and we are still beating 3 top teams so far this year. For the year we are shooting well over 50% overall and around 40% from 3 as a team! Beating three top 10 teams doing it.

I don't think this team is going to see a lot of zone defenses. Azzi alone is a one person wrecking crew. She might have the best 3 point shot in women's basketball AND the best pull up jumper. Geno has a point though about scoring from the paint. We need it at least some and AE might just be emerging as a true star before our eyes.

Great game for November. If Iowa can consistently get that 3 from their other players not names Clark, they can be a final 4 team.
Boy I hope this game was a stepping stone for CD. We need her offense and moxy.
Aaliyah is the player we all expected her to be. I’m glad we have Azzi and other teams don’t.
Looking again at her stat line, she had a heck of a game today. Very impressive.

Just wow. So many great performances all at different times. And all were important. Great win.
Agreed. There were many great performances today. Some saw the game as a struggle for UConn at times. I saw it differently. I saw Iowa play hard and shoot the lights out. UConn had 3 unforced turnovers in the first half which was the difference in the score at the half.
I've give credit to Iowa. It's not so much that UConn was out of sync, but that Iowa was in sync. Give credit where credit is due. Iowa stepped up and went toe-to-toe with UConn in the first half.

They were not able to sustain the intensity and scoring in the 2nd half. That and Azzi woke up and found her stroke in the 3rd quarter. Iowa won the first half. UConn won the second half. It's waaaayyyy to early to expect UConn or anyone other team to play a "perfect" game this early in the season. I'll look for perfect games in February and March not November.

Caroline does SO many things on the court - underrated post defense, tie-ups, three-pointers, midrange shots, she’s an excellent finisher and I love love love her post-ups on smaller guards. So good to see her back.
When not dealing with an injury. Caroline is the most well rounded player.

They blew the whistle whenever someone breathed on Clark. She sure fell a lot for someone so strong.
Yes. So Strong. Everyone who heard one of Holly Rowe's pointless in-game stories knows how strong.

The camera operator for this presser was an AMATEUR. I got dizzy from him/her moving the camera around the room searching for the person asking the question (whom they never found) instead of just leaving the camera pointed at the podium. Good help is sometimes hard to find. It was hard to enjoy the Q & A because of the incessant camera movement.

What a game!! Love these types of games. Shows the character of the team. Who is going to step up when the pressure mounts and who is going to shy away in the big moment. This game, our girls stepped up! Key buckets by Caroline. Azzi played a masterful game. Love that young lady! Her shot was dropping from deep early in the game. She took her game inside and started dropping that deadly mid-range shot. Butter! Knocked down a few of those and then she was back in rhythm. Well done, Azzi. Like I said in the Chat, Azzi knows her game better than anyone of else. She knows what is going to get her going and she did just that.

Caroline. It was great to have her get those minutes and be able to have a decent game out there. Welcome back, Caroline!! Hopefully the game legs are back.

Aaliyah. MVP of the Tournament. 1). Well-deserved honor. You deserved it. 2). I do not care what anyone says, you are having a fantastic year. Your confidence is off the charts! Keep it going young lady. Keep up the great work on both ends of the floor. This Phil Knight award is only the beginning. Stay hungry out there.

The whole team kept their poise out there. They didn't panic. They just regrouped at halftime and played their game. Enjoy a few good days of practice and rest and good luck against Providence on Friday.

Congrats, UConn!! Great game.

I seriously thought at one point she might challenge KLS's 10 for 10 from 3. Seemed like she couldn't miss.
