Castle is balling out, and yes 4/6 on 3FM and yes 6/6 on FT… He is playing straight up bully balls in the paint and now killing it from outside as well. There is no stopping him soon.

And this was against the best team (well I dunno about that now that SA is 2-0 against them), OKC.

Now averaging 18.6 PPG, 7.0 APG, 5.3 RPG shooting 50.6% from the field, now above 30 at 30.5% 3P, and 72.3% FT

He is making a strong case for NBA All Star. In year 2.

And he's barely of drinking age.

Cam was diming but I had a mini parlay for him with 2 3s, he came through in the clutch with a big 3 end of game.

Check that date brotha.

Love the way these guys are playing.

I love Cam, and that one season with us was so special it elevated both of us

The staff brought the greatness out of him

The Cam scream on the court was something I'll never forget
The 2024 team really is the pinnacle of this program. Such a special team. We got to see greatness at such an exceptional level. Every player had their own unique quality.

I always thought the thing that made Cam so deadly wasn't his terrific shooting or his pinpoint passing, it was that slow, hesitation dribble into the key where it almost looked like he had dribbled himself into trouble and he would either get you a bucket or make a nice pass to a teammate after snake charming the defense into giving up on him.

With Spencer’s assist numbers can he be considered a point guard. If so UConn’s 2023/24 may be the only college basketball team that started 3 NBA level point guards with Castle, Spencer and Newton.

.-.
They absolutely love him in Memphis and I feel like he has elevated the whole team with the level of his play. Last year he was injured at the start of the season and had a pretty quiet yeat. I really hope he gets involved to the 3 point contest. Could totally see him play his way into the starting lineup.

I get that the 4 year deal provides a safety net, but surely his agent should have foreseen Cam outperforming his deal and advised him to take a shorter term deal. He's gonna be a severely underpaid until his age 30 season.
Don’t think anyone, including probably Cam, could have foreseen this. Plus he was a 2nd round pick. He didn’t exactly have much leverage.

When he originally signed this past summer it was reported as a 2 year deal, then it became 3 years with the 4th a team option. He's definitely getting shortchanged here but the injuries to Pippen Jr, Jerome, and now Morant really changed everything and opened up his playing time. The 4th year being the team option stinks.

Most of the time, the lack of leverage gets you a 1 or 2 year prove it deal. The fact that they gave him 4 years makes me think they wanted to keep him badly.

Some Huskies in Europe:

Vital: 21.3 pts on 54%, 32%, 85% splits. Unfortunately, his team is not playing European basketball this year.

Rj Cole: 15.6 pts on 49.3%, 36.7%, 96.2% splits
Struggling a bit in European competition: 11.9 pts on 38.7%, 32.6%, 91.1% splits

More huskies:

Adama: Not getting that much run
5.7 pts on 52.3%, 50%, 81.3% splits
Ironically performing better on European competition: 7.8 pts on 58.6%, 40%, 87.5% splits

Thanks to the success of his brother, Pat, I think Cam got a much more in-depth scouting profile.

I’ll be honest, I’m the biggest Cam Stan you’ll find and he’s still blowing my NBA expectations out of the water.

Pat didn't have any NBA success when Cam got drafted

Correct. He was in the G League playing for the Santa Cruz Warriors from 2022-2024. He signed an Exhibit 10 contract with Golden State on February 22, 2024 and made his NBA debut 3 days later. He played in 6 games that season averaging 0.7 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.8 assists. Cam was then drafted in June 2024.

The guy playing over him at the 4, Amar Alibegovic, played at St. JOHNS.
