Maybe watch a game, you'd be less bummed.
Eh, he’s doing some good things but he’s definitely not where everyone expected him to be.

I saw a long stretch where Magic were beating their defenders but stopped when they saw Clingan coming. They never got near the paint all while never losing his man. In fact, the only points his man had came on a 28-footer. Only one rebound the entire time, though. I guess the stats trump all.Eh, he’s doing some good things but he’s definitely not where everyone expected him to be.
Yeah so I’ve watched 5 of his games this year.Maybe watch a game, you'd be less bummed.

Yes after being told how it's a good thing I'm back with more data to show why it isn't in real time.We know you hate them taking 3s, it’s been stated and repeated.
If I get huffy sir, you will know it! I actually was watching that stretch of play and thought "some Boneyarder will say Clingan isn't doing anything because numbers." Not disappointed! 😂I didn’t say that. Don’t get all huffy.
Clingan is a mythical figure around here. We all know he’s a good defender.
1-3 from the free throw line?!?!Hawkins - 1 point on 0-3 (0-2 3P, 1-3 FT). Looks like Micah Peavy is starting to take over his minutes

He’s sharing ball handling with Fox, and it’s Fox’s second game. Plus, you just exaggerate everything that everyone says to make it fit into the pinhole of a point you try to make, you’re a miserable poster sometimes.Yes after being told how it's a good thing I'm back with more data to show why it isn't in real time.
You're also the same guy that was trying to say Castle would be playing the wing in a few weeks and we’re now seeing him blossom at his position. Has to be weird doubting how good our guys can be and having to be proven wrong about it.
I'm not exaggerating. I was looking for my comments on Clingan taking 3s and found this and laughed. It looks like the Spurs will be going with Castle as the lead guard moving forward keeping the ball in his hands. He’s sharing ball handling with Fox, and it’s Fox’s second game. Yes, it is a good thing. He needs to shoot better, he’s being guarded by Centers at times and they’re giving him wide open shots that he misses, that hurts the team. It doesn’t cause them to lose and he does a lot more good than harm, but everyone in the world besides you apparently knows he needs to shoot better from 3. That’s why he is allowed to take ~4 per game, because the Spurs want/need him to be better.
You’re animosity towards the 3 is weird, and don’t ever suggest I doubt how good Steph can be. Don’t be a pr**k.
“He won’t have the ball as much” equates to him being relegated to the Wing? Again you are GRASPING my man.I'm not exaggerating. I was talking about Clingan taking the 3s he takes at the volume he's taking them. To the point it's almost half his attempts as he struggles to score in the paint.
Of course Steph should shoot better from 3. But I'm more worried about him continuing to develop his 3 level scoring. Even if a center does decide to guard him he can take a few dribbles down to the elbow and pull it from there. I'd love to see him get that shot down ho to a 50% clip. If he can do that that's when he can play the SGA drawing fouls and opening up even more drives to the basket game.
SGA and Cade shoot about 50% of their shots from 3ft-3point line (midrange). Steph is currently at about 30%. Would like to see that number go up. Especially with the spacing on the floor the Spurs have for him.
He's also shooting 34% from 3-10 feet which isn't great. Surprisingly is shooting 58% and 50% from 10-16 and 16-3P. Definitely would like to see that 3-10 feet range go up to take advantage of his size.
It's not that I hate the 3. I just hate that it's talked about as the only thing that matters offensively to how good a player can be and it's the first thing that's talked about in regards to what a player needs to work on. When for high level players it should be the last thing.

He called Fox an elite PG, said he won't have the ball in his hands as much and needs to keep working on his shooting because of it. In my head, that's an assumption that Fox would assume his role back at PG, Castle would move off ball and need to shoot more. This screen shot didn’t say what you said he did. He said he’ll have the ball LESS in a few weeks. And that they have 3 great options. He didn’t say he will be completely moved to wing.
You have a tough time with nuance, you take everything incredibly black and white.
I’ve never once thought what Cardiac was saying he had a lack of confidence in Castle just because you say things so definitively.
I’ll say it again, and you can rip me apart if you want, but this is the TYPE of argument you make that bothers people. You extrapolate definitive statements and make them yourself. Everything is black and white, all or nothing.

Not Castle staying on ball the way he is having his 3rd straight 10 assist game and killing it without needing to knock down many 3s.
That's my observation on it. If you received its differently its fine and really not worth the back and forth. But Cardiac has been pretty consistent since the draft days on his Castle shouldn't focus so much on wanting to play PG takes I believe and tempering expectations for how good he can be.
You were always on the side of him being able to play the position as well I believe.
Which is just another one of my takes that got a bit of scrutiny that ended up aging well over time.
Fox is an elite PG. That has just been a fact for ~5 years. Your head is a funny place, because that assumption is rooted in no aspect of reality, I will definitively tell you that right now.He called Fox an elite PG, said he won't have the ball in his hands as much and needs to keep working on his shooting because of it. Steph is special. We just have so many greats I'd have to think about it.I’ve been with you on the castle train, no diggity. He’s already on my UConn Rushmore I think. Definitely my UConn NBA Rushmore.
He's going to be the best UConn player ever in the NBA, IMO.I’ve been with you on the castle train, no diggity. He’s already on my UConn Rushmore I think. Definitely my UConn NBA Rushmore.

Ray, Kemba, and Rip are solidified in both college and the pros.
After that there's some one time/fringe All-Stars who also didn't win the big ones at either level (Caron, Andre, Rudy, etc.) but some were also All Americans.
Then we have Shabazz, the All American who won 2 but didn't have much NBA success.
My UConn Rushmore would be the 3 mentioned and Shabazz. That last NBA slot is there for the taking though for Steph as he blossoms into a star.

It's crazy to think about because Ray Allen is a top 10 shooting guard of all-time.
The Spurs are going to have a dynasty if Wemby and Castle stay healthy.
Clingan is one thing, but why on earth has Andre Drummond, a career 14 percent three-point shooter, taken ten already this year? I know he's hit 4 of them, but that's just an odd choice.
Castle was the first guy that got me super excited for UConn recruiting again and made me think we can really get anybody now.I dno if he’ll be better than Ray. But if he is, hoooo boy.
My UConn Rushmore is no question Shabazz and Ray and probably Kemba. I’d probably have to include someone else I watched for 2-3 years like Ben or Khalid or maybe my first love Donyell but I’m just saying I loved Steph since junior year in HS and he met my expectations and then some. There’s nothing about him I don’t love.
He’s def in my NBA UConn Rushmore.
I’ll “pick my nits” here as Donny Marshall would say and point out the Caron Butler won an NBA championship (albeit from the bench with an injury) with the Mavs.Steph is special. We just have so many greats I'd have to think about it.

But no Rip on your Rushmore bruh???
I was thinking about that too and decided to exclude it. I wonder what the purely UConn NBA rankings would be as far as individual success go. Off the top of my head he'd be 3rd without digging into Cliff’s or Donny’s career. One of those 3 or Kemba right now.I’ll “pick my nits” here as Donny Marshall would say and point out the Caron Butler won an NBA championship (albeit from the bench with an injury) with the Mavs.
Respect. I just had to hear the reason for it. I never personally enjoyed watching Rip as much as the others either. Even though he is the guy who has all the accomplishments (AA, POY, NC, NBA Champ, All Star, etc.)You know … he’s always the guy that I really liked and I recognize how great he is, and I’m a 2 guard…but I dno I never loved him the way I loved Ray, Ben, Shabazz…I can’t even explain it. He absolutely deserves it. But my personal favs list usually excludes him.
