Megan Walker was scoreless in Monacan's game Thursday (12/8). I don't know if she didn't play or what the story is yet. They're playing three straight nights and four out of five, so could it be that they rested her? Updates likely to follow.

Thanks. That's odd, but I guess she's being rested for the upcoming tourney. I hope there is no bad news.

A little more detail from Monacan's 79-39 win a few days ago:

The score was 68-29 after 3 quarters. Meg had 30 of the 68. She shot 10-19 from inside the arc and 2-6 from the arc. She was 4-4 on FTs. (From the videos I've seen, I think she's a very good FT shooter.) She also had 11 boards, 2 steals, 1 block, and 1 foul.

She reminds me of Megan Walker. Next in a long line of legendary Uconn greats! I see the future. Meg, Crystal Dangerfield and Caroline Ducharme will bring more NCs!

I like the comment on Meg's midrange game. She has the moves, quickness, and vertical to get a 10-16' jumper almost anytime she wants. And she makes the shot at a high frequency.

Some more detail on Meg's game. (MaxPreps requires signing in.)

13-25 shooting overall. 11-18 from inside the arc. 2-7 from outside the arc. 8-8 on FTs. She's 12-12 in the past 2 games. MaxPreps says 9 boards, 2 steals, 1 block, 6 TOs. For the second game in a row, apparently 0 assists.

Just 4-13 from three so that's still not a strength, but the rest of the game is high caliber.

She had one assist for sure on the fastbreak in that first game's highlight package.

I think I've seen assists, so I assume that stat is not fully accurate. Yeah, her 3-point shot is decent, but she's not KML. I really like her midrange shot. She may be a 85-90% FT shooter. She's made at least 12 in a row.

Remember turnovers can be the result of the receiving players not being ready or able. Just sayin
Very true. Meg seems to be a good passer and ball handler. I think her teammates may be responsible for some of the TOs. Offensive fouls could also be a cause.

In the game that Meg did not play, she was not needed. Monacan beat Clover Hill by 66-17. Clover Hill had 1 point each in the 1st and 4th quarters.

Not needed but I still don't understand why she wouldn't play.

Either way, Walker finished off this busy stretch with 31 points Saturday (12/10) as Monacan won a tight one 74-67.

That's 30+ in each of 3 games. She's the real deal.

The USA Today rankings:

Super 25 Girls Varsity Basketball Expert Rankings, week 3

Monacan is #19. They beat #8 NCA last night.

A lot of schools in the rankings appear year after year, or at least semi-regularly: Paul VI, Riverdale, Centennial, Norcross, St. Johns, Neumann-Goretti, Montini, Long Beach Poly, St. Mary's, Duncanville, Collins Hill, Mater Dei, et al.
