UCONN-Creighton Post game thread

That phantom foul call on Edwards at the end was much worse than the call that out CD on the line.

The fourth Quarter was the first time UConn has looked like UConn in 2 weeks, outside the South Carolina game.

Creighton has 21 fouls and we have only 9 fouls. A sweet win.

Not sure how I feel about that. But a win is a win.

When this game was slipping away it was Lou and Caroline that bailed us out with a badly needed bucket. If we had just a little from our bigs tonight we win this one easily.

The Huskies had some good, open shots but they just didn’t drop. They still figured out how to get the win

Yeah, the scenario was set up for Dorka to nail that 3 pointer in the last 25 seconds to seal the game. They just couldn't follow the script tonight...and they still won.

With Caroline back the half court offense is so much better and she came up huge in the 4th..Lou was great and her and Dorka getting the fouls called on Creighton at the end was great..a bit lucky with the girl missing one of the ft when she's 90% for the year..but will take the win

Caroline Ducharme and Lou Lopez Senechal bailed us out tonight. A really bad foul call against Creighton at the end. We got lucky tonight. Villanova will be a whole different challenge than Creighton. If this team doesn't step up it's game, it could be a long day this weekend. I fear we might be underdogs vs. Villanova.

There were head scratching calls all game, as usual. People tend to focus especially on calls in the last minute.

But if the roles were reversed, UCONN fans would be livid about the last minute officiating.

The first positive is that the team came back from a deficit in the 4th to win the game. The second positive was the team reduced unnecessary turnovers. The third positive was Caroline Ducharme in the 4th. Understandably rusty at the onset, she came up big and used her length down low for some key buckets. The fourth positive was Lou looked more like her "early in the year" self. Nice bounce back after a tough outing against Georgetown.

Unfortunately, the trend continues where it appears some players are up and others are down. Without Caroline's contribution, Creighton most likely would have walked out with a W. Aaliyah seems to be in a funk and the word is out not to allow her space in the paint or give her room to drive. Teams appear willing to let players not named Aaliyah or Lou to beat them. Enter Caroline. She doesn't need a second opinion before lighting one up. Hopefully, her presence will help Lou gain a bit more freedom and give the team an offensive boost on Sat versus Villanova.

The stress….Geezus! Seemed like nothing was falling for UCONN, but they persevered. On to the next game. Well played game by Creighton, who couldn’t miss anything. I knew that they weren’t going to have a repeat performance like in Omaha. I know that the team is exhausted, but they have to capitalize on those shots near the basket, especially when there is glaring size advantage. Caroline is the POY. Gave them the boost that they needed. I will sleep good tonight.

I have seen it, not sure I believe it, but it ended well. It is not like our team didn't play their hearts out, but it seems like something is wrong. Maybe it is just me?!

I've been sayin' that here for the past few weeks. I'm taking in account the # of games and minutes played, plus the short bench. My eyes tell me "somthin' ain't right". Gutsy win: Caroline is back and Lou carried them. Dorka with some timely shots, steals, and rebounds, but she has to finish close to the basket. I don't know what is going on with Edwards. She was an All-American a few weeks ago, but has not looked close to that level for a while. Aubrey can look spectacular, and then lost in the same minute. Interested as why Jamelle was so close to Geno right after the game, and during the post-game interview.

Perhaps, but let's not forget Creighton had the chance to at least tie it with a second left. They just didn't hit their FTs when they needed to and we did. Sometimes it's that simple.

I joined the chat after the 1st half and suddenly UConn went down. As soon as I left the chat, UConn started playing better and eventually won. So I'm apologizing to the team for accidentally putting the whammy on them.

CD played great and was clutch. For all those questioning why she was playing over some other bench players, this is why. She is a fighter. It was awesome to see her finally back and getting some crucial buckets.

Yes, Nika got an elbow in the face before she was called for a foul. The ref saw both fouls, but only called the 2nd one.

Very happy with the win. The wheels were really close to coming off during this game, but they fought their way back into it. So nice to see Carol (or Caroline depending on what she prefers) back on the floor. Another scoring option is an absolute necessity at this point because without it this team's offense is too one dimensional and too easy to guard.

No, it's not you--the mental fatigue of playing, practicing and competition has gotten to our team, especially AE--hopefully they will bounce back with renewed energy and not have the mindset that you can simply be mechanical and go through the motions in a game...

I'm not sure they have much to complain about. They had their chance to win or tie in the final second. The result was entirely in their (or more precisely, Lauren Jensen's) hands.

So many reasons to lose this game: Nika with only 2 assists, Aubrey with only 5 points, AE with poor shooting. But Lou had a good steady gane, Dorka came through with 7 assists and a great play to get us posession late in the game. Plus Caroline's perfect 4th quarter. Whoa Nelly!

An exciting win that could have easily gone the other way. Creighton had a plan and they executed well. They took and made more outside shots and rebounded well to nearly pull off an upset.

1. We had fewer turnovers, 7 to 15!
2. We had more free throws, 14 to 6.
3. We lost the rebound battle
4. They had more 3 pointers.

Aaliyah and Dorka had solid games but only made 7 of 24 field goals. Aubrey was solid on defense. Nika played well on defense too and helped with 8 points. Lou had a strong scoring contribution making 17 points. Caroline had a slow start and scored all of her 10 points in the second half. Team looked less tired with a 6 player rotation.

I look forward to the rest of the bench stepping up and to Azzi coming back.

Do you get the feeling that Caroline is taking personal blame for missing all those games? She probably feels that she would have been the difference in the past two losses & she played with a vengeance tonight.

We won, in spite of sooo many defensive missed assignments. Creighton played tough, and expected to win. Too bad they drew some late fouls, but they did commit the fouls. Lou drew a great charge, the Creighton free throw queen missed a critical one, and Caroline was just magnificent. Take the win, hope we play better this weekend against a darn good team. Go Huskies!

Yes, there were far too many uncharacteristic and defensive errors, with defenders either guarding the wrong opponent, or not making the right switch, or not seeming to know where the ball was. In many of those cases the Creighton player was wide open for a 3-pointer, or mismatched on the Uconn defender, or . . . Well, you get the picture. As I said not the usual defensive sharpness and efficiency from a Uconn team.
