UConn Coaching Hire Incoming

Heard it Coach K
K is used to handing out cash, so he might might a decent GM. I just wonder how he would do in a world where everyone else is also paying players a similar amount of money.

I remember getting a ride back home to the Torrington area from school circa 2006. Eventually we started talking college ball and the dude(I didn’t know him that well) tells me he roots for Nova because Nardi is his cousin. It was a pretty quiet ride after that and I may or may not have given him gas money.

73 but what’s he have to do with Moore?
Why would you question if Moore has 10+ years of coaching left in him when a predecessor went another 14 years? I don't understand your problem with Moore's age, I guess.

This is an entirely new age in college basketball with the advent of NIL and Portal. Comparing Calhoun to Tom is apples to oranges. In addition, coaches such as Tony Bennett retired at 54.and Jay Wright around 60. Granted they were head coaches but more pressure now with the new landscape.

I forgot the job has to be posted. Even though Hurley knows who he's hiring.

The university is expected to post a job opening as early as Tuesday morning for a new assistant coach to join Dan Hurley’s staff ahead of the 2025-26 season. Tom Moore had been serving in a dual position as assistant coach and general manager, and will shift to focus on GM duties full time. Moore’s role will be clarified further at a later date.

Hurley’s quote from that article says it all. Don’t know what we will win from year to year but whatever happens the effort of the coaches and staff will not be in question.

“I’m demanding, so it’s always hard for me to find people to hire. They have to share that same kind of obsession and they can’t be looking for life balance.”

The perfect guy to lead our program. Passion can carry you a long way.

...they can’t be looking for life balance.”
I suppose if this is disclosed upfront, it's not an issue. And from what I remember from Nardi as a player, he seems to be properly unbalanced. As in basketball-lifer, that is.

He’s been in the coaching world for almost 40 years. I hope he sticks it out for a bit longer, he’s a really valuable coach to have & we know he won’t leave at this point. But I can’t blame him if he’s about ready to hang it up, he can draw on his retirement accounts at this point.
As long as he is on stand by for rebounding drills.

Job should be filled by the time the first live period opens, so that's good.

According to Hurley Tom has very little time for coaching as he is doing all the crazy financial stuff which is only going to get crazier. Call him GM or a assistant AD
But his coaching duties needed to replaced by someone.
Just for informational purposes I listed some of the greatest coaches of my era;

I think the gospels mentioned something about not being accepted in your home town

That is the standard at elite levels. Nick Saban has that and he passed it on to Kirby Smart. Kirby had a guy (Matt Luke) resign to spend time with his family (watch his son play football, I think) only to spring up at Clemson shortly after.

Danny Hurley and his coaches are not lounging around enjoying their fat paychecks. They are working their asses off.

Their dedication is likely more than is mentally healthy (hence not following the Queen's etiquette guidelines regarding interactions with people wearing stripes), but we (the casuals) get to reap the benefit of their diligence.

I feel I've got the "excellent organizational, teaching, communication and public relations skills" part covered. Hmmmm.
And you are strongly committed to the university!

I do this every time I read one of these! :D

What’s with the Boneyard AI
I wrote Pitino. SJ and it was changed automatically to Samson Johnson . Should have been St John’s obviously
My near vision is bad worse when I use a phone or am in a hurry both makes editing difficult .

Don’t forget Geno Auriemma, West Chester University - UConn

For the fans that aren’t familiar with Nardi (me) why is he regarded highly and what value does he add to the coaching staff/team? Hurley is purposeful with almost everything he does so he wouldn’t pick an assistant coach on a whim but for everyone saying it’s bolstering the coaching staff why? Genuwinly don’t know much about him so just trying to see what we should be excited about?
