Then we're no worse than we are today and into the foreseeable future in the Big East. And if the conference falls apart in 2029 what happens?

Need an invite before we get the details so rather than assuming the worst how about we hope for the best. What about travel? I doubt we put all sports in the Big 12, we’d relocate most.
I also read somewhere (maybe here) that the $7M per year was on par for a P5* conference’s contribution subtracting football. Not sure if that was accurate or not.
Then rejoin the BE they can’t say noIf the Big 12 fails, or college football turns into a 15 school oligopoly, UConn is a lot worse off in the Big 12 than the Big East.
That’s not a good business strategy.Need an invite before we get the details so rather than assuming the worst how about we hope for the best.
Agreed whole-heartedly. Whenever UConn is considered for membership, the fact they are not a member of the P-5 (now P-4) is mentioned. Yes there are football issues, but no one questions UConn in the other sports. They hit them on not being a P-5 school. One of the reasons Stanford and Cal got into the ACC was their P-5 membership. They are a have and you have a better chance of things breaking your way if you are a have rather than a G-5 school, which are have nots. Eventually, you need a seat at the table when the music stops or you aren't going to move forward with the other schools. This is not just a football move, it's a move for all sports including basketball so that they can compete with NIL $ and have money for facility improvement and coaching salaries.Money and a seat at the table.

No, they're in a better basketball conference and playing in a respected all-sports conference with peer institutions. If the Big 12 fails, or college football turns into a 15 school oligopoly, UConn is a lot worse off in the Big 12 than the Big East.
Depends on financial terms. We’d be getting small bump in media deal, BUT, the expectation is that we’d be funding investment in FB in preparation of 2031. Where does that money come from?as long as it's more than $7mill/year for now with football membership by 2031 and a scheduling agreement in the meantime, then it's better than the BE deal.
I didn’t say we need to accept it if it’s as bad as you assume. That’s not a good business strategy.
I think it would be more than a bump. According to Dennis Dodd, Gonzaga was valued at $15 million last year when there was discussion of them being added to the Big 12.Depends on financial terms. Future roadmap protection should the split occur. What does it offer that the Big East doesn’t? I’m genuinely curious I’m not trying to be a clown.

So we have half of the votes that we need to get.![]()
Big 12 presidents pitched on potential UConn addition, but lack of consensus likely to prolong decision
CBS Sports verified that six Big 12 schools are in favor of adding the Huskies if a vote were taken todaywww.cbssports.com
Big 12 presidents were briefed Monday about the possible addition of UConn to the league without taking action, CBS Sports has learned. The league's lack of unanimity on the issue will require ongoing discussions as the possible next round of realignment looms, sources told CBS Sports.
CBS Sports was able to verify six Big 12 schools in favor of UConn's addition with two against if a vote were taken today. Those schools did not want to be identified because of the sensitivity of the issue. It takes a super majority (at least 12 of the 16 Big 12 schools) to approve such a move.
With 8 outstandingSo we have half of the votes that we need to get.

Seriously??? How?? We would be in the preeminent BB conf and it wouldn’t be close and we’ll actually have a chance to build fb into something palatable. How would we be better off in the BE if the system blows up? There will be a lot of teams looking for a landing spotIf the Big 12 fails, or college football turns into a 15 school oligopoly, UConn is a lot worse off in the Big 12 than the Big East.
I would always rather be with Syracuse, Duke, Pittsburgh, NC State, Cincinnati, even Louisville, than the Big East.if that happens we will have a lot of compan. If that happens would the b12 just reconstitute itself?
I've heard it's more than double that. All from ESPN.as long as it's more than $7mill/year for now with football membership by 2031 and a scheduling agreement in the meantime, then it's better than the BE deal.
