You think Big 12 is going to give us ~4 home games a year vs their teams? No way they travel out here for that.

TBF, @UCONNRPh only suggested “X number of Big 12 games a year as we (UConn) ramp up the program”. No mention of 4 games, nor specific reference to home games.

FWIW, the uninformed may be unaware most UConn schedules are fairly populated through at least 2028. Hypothetically, gradually add an away Big 12 game for 2026 (current 6 H 5 A) to existing 5 P4 opponents. Then, gradually increase H and A games each season. Horse trade games with other P4s as mutually agreed. Maybe toss in a potential low level Big 12 bowl opportunity over time, e.g., some 6-6 school declines an offer. Etc, etc, etc.

Reasonably, it’s extremely unlikely rational people expect the Big 12 to immediately schedule 4 games at the Rent in the first few seasons.

I also read somewhere (maybe here) that the $7M per year was on par for a P5* conference’s contribution subtracting football. Not sure if that was accurate or not.

the thought of the Big 12 imploding is a dumb one, you do know how perfectly they have placed themselves in position? none of their brands apart from Kansas are good enough to ever be considered by the SEC or Big 10, but too good to leave out of conversations with the SEC and Big 10 especially in basketball it's gonna be that 3rd and final conference IF anything ever splits from the NCAA.

Agreed whole-heartedly. Whenever UConn is considered for membership, the fact they are not a member of the P-5 (now P-4) is mentioned. Yes there are football issues, but no one questions UConn in the other sports. They hit them on not being a P-5 school. One of the reasons Stanford and Cal got into the ACC was their P-5 membership. They are a have and you have a better chance of things breaking your way if you are a have rather than a G-5 school, which are have nots. Eventually, you need a seat at the table when the music stops or you aren't going to move forward with the other schools. This is not just a football move, it's a move for all sports including basketball so that they can compete with NIL $ and have money for facility improvement and coaching salaries.

I think it would be more than a bump. According to Dennis Dodd, Gonzaga was valued at $15 million last year when there was discussion of them being added to the Big 12.

If I were conspiracy minded, ESPN and the entire P4 need to take UConn if they ever intend to break away from the NCAA. Because not having the 6-time champion presents a huge opening for any antitrust suit.

Some B12 AD's are against UC entry. Some are for it. Some could either way. B12 presidents will make that decision. Expansion is usually done in pairs. If BB is a factor, Duke would make a good entry partner. North Carolina is a top pick for SEC / B1G.

CBS Sports was able to verify six Big 12 schools in favor of UConn's addition with two against if a vote were taken today. Seriously??? How?? We would be in the preeminent BB conf and it wouldn’t be close and we’ll actually have a chance to build fb into something palatable. How would we be better off in the BE if the system blows up? There will be a lot of teams looking for a landing spot

I would always rather be with Syracuse, Duke, Pittsburgh, NC State, Cincinnati, even Louisville, than the Big East.
