UConn Baseball 2021

The good is good- the things that stood out to me is Chris Winkel's batting average and the walks of the pitching staff- outside of Austin Peterson, everyone is averaging a walk every 2 innings or less!! Simeone and Wang are the only 2 averaging less than a strikeout per inning.

With these stats, we should at least be .500. Upward and onward.

Worth the 17 minutes of time...




The UConn Baseball Team started their season a few weeks back and went through a gauntlet of non-conference games, and now as they gear up to start Big East Conference play, head coach Jim Penders joined The Rob Dibble Show to talk about the how the season has gone so far and what's to come. Coach breaks down what the brand new Elliott Ballpark is like for him and his team and what quirks about the stadium that they are taking advantage of. Penders also talks about the plan they use with their pitchers as the season has gotten underway and how they ramped them up for this part of the season and how he can get the most of his two-way star Reggie Crawford.

Not sure where to post this, but it deserves a mention. Good to see the baseball team in Storrs helping out the Pointers.

 
By the way, because the Xavier series was moved to a Sunday through Tuesday format, Chris Jones indicated during one of the games during the Xavier series that Austin Peterson might pitch the Friday game and that Ben Casparius might pitch the first Saturday game. This is being done to give Casparius an extra day of rest.

That has been overcome by events. Fridays game is postponed (announcement forthcoming), potential double header Saturday and Sunday.
 
I noticed on my DVR that UConn vs Butler on Sunday is being broadcast by WCCT-20. My DVR has a start time of 1 pm, but UConnHuskies.com shows the start as 12:05.

Given that our hopes on getting back in the conversation for an at large bid probably requires sweeping a home series like this, having to win back to back doubleheaders is not the way you'd want to set it up.

... but if it has to be, I’m glad it’s @ home and not having to worry about a travel roster.
