To be fair, there would have been 2 outs and he would still be at 3rd if Winkel didn't go there. He was probably getting impatient.
 
1-2-3 inning in the 3rd for Montgomerie, who picks up his 4th strikeout as well.
 
4th inning, back to back doubles by Prato and Yahn get the Huskies a run.

A big step forward offensively will be much easier to take if both Prato and Yahn return to school. I am not sure where either will be drafted.

Prato is a freshman. He is not eligible to be drafted. Most likely you can say goodbye to Yahn.

Gawd Winkel just doesn't look comfortable @ the plate. Confidence gone.
 
Our offense has been fortunate that UC, UH, and Memphis have all played suspect defense.

Need Montgomerie to pitch more effectively with a lead than Cate did.

Seems like Montgomerie has his stuff today. Cate struggled the entire game yesterday with or without the lead.

First hit off of Montgomerie is a two out triple in the 4th, but in true Wills fashion he strands the runner. 2-0 UConn going into the top of the 5th.

Hill certainly hasn't hit much (or at all), but he does get his share of walks. That and getting hit by pitches gives him an on base percentage of .324 before the start of this game, which is the best of the 4 guys at bottom of the UConn batting order. Believe it or not, he has one of the best walk ratios on the team when compared to his official at bats.
 
This guy is well over 100 pitches for the tourney and we still can't touch him solidly.
 
Just give him 2nd base there. You got 2 outs amd 2 strikes. Poor decision.

This inning has turned into a small disaster with Memphis taking a 3-2 lead and still at bat.
 
This team just really knows how to get your blood boiling. Mistake after mistake.
 
Why does this game remind me so much of one of those midweek games during the year where we lose to a team we have no business losing to. Can't hit a tired pitcher.
