Durrell is gonna play in the NFL

The dude moves like a great athlete. I can see why he was rated so high. I like Cam too. But you can never have too much talent.

I loved those sets where we had Durell and Cam on the field at the same time.

This hurts but only because I thought he was the most talented RB on our team. However, Edwards and Brown are a very solid one two punch. It's hard to shift from thinking from "this kid's transferring because our program is falling apart" to "he had a great season and now wants the money and exposure a P4 offers". This is a whole new world and as an independent school we can expect nothing less than having players like Durrell do this when they have a breakout season. Like others have said, it's about the reload and Mora showed he can find solid players when given significant NIL money to play with.

Durrell was one of my two favorite players this year. I'll miss seeing him in a Husky Uniform but I'll be cheering him on wherever he goes.

Durrell Robinson had a terrific season. The yards per carry number is no joke. Don’t know whether his plan is just to auction himself or he wants a shot at the P4, but I’ll miss him and I wish him well.

Having said that, I spent all year wishing Cam Edwards would get more carries so ….
The problem i have at some level is that players that think they're nfl cases may find themselves stuck behind other players or different and changing schemes and basically work themselves out of being an nfl case. We will see

If the kid flunks out then he didn't fulfill his contract to stay at the school for x # of years, therefore he doesn't get paid.
Grad students with support flunk out too. Only difference is these athletes, will be paid a lot more.

Not jealous. Just noting it shapes, the dynamic

Pulled Durell out of the dumpster, but I think that he was 4*** out of HS.

He’s the deal. So was Carter.

They have helped us.

Not Joly or some of the others. They never did better.

It’s a business

Sounds more like a problem for them than for you. Tez Johnson started out at Troy and will be playing on Sundays. Risk/reward.

Robinson is someone worth rooting for. He's all about loving the game and providing for his family. Staying at UConn would be a good decision. Gets plenty of carries and exposure. For his sake, I hope that's the case wherever he ends up. A P4 team is not going to guarantee playing time or carries so this move has its risks. NIL money might be good, but it's not a career.

Robinson is a tall running back at 6'1" and he is ~205 lbs right now. At that height in the NFL, he probably needs to add 20 lbs which may or may not happen so I think maximizing NIL is the right move for him.

Hate losing Durrell but, with or without him next year, Uconn will be very solid at running back.
My biggest concern is the key holes on both lines & at linebacker from seniors that are leaving. And at QB.

Talents like Robinson leaving are exactly why there should be no "building for the future" when it comes to game day QB selection in the transfer portal / NIL era. If you build someone up there is a decent chance they will leave, the only goal should be to win as many games as you can each season and then reload, "building for the future" is a thing of the past. Rosters are in too much flux these days to think beyond the current season and as a G5 our top talent is easily taken.
Spot on. Too many transfers, too many guys moving multiple times, the only thing you should play for is current season. Hell redshirts mean nothing as they are likely gonna play that redshirt year elsewhere. Sad state but that is where we are and NCAA is not gonna change rules anytime soon if ever.

I'd say there is a chance especially if we give him more NIL

There is almost no chance.

These guys have agents. You only announce you are going into the portal before it opens for two reasons.

-Your team is asking you to move on
-You’re certain you have appealing offers heading your direction

A player like Robinson isn’t rolling the dice here. The continued level of ignorance in this place on the full extent of the portal is simply amazing.

It is what it is wonder if Robinson plays in the bowl game.
Same thought but if not, I found a new rule meaning Rosa ( at his reg season 4 game max for a RS year) or any other redshirts will be able to play if healthy:

NCAA rule:
The NCAA's new rule for the 2024 college football season exempts postseason games, including bowl games, from counting toward a player's four-game redshirt limit. This rule allows players to gain experience while still maintaining their eligibility

Yeah I'm thinking let's give the playing time and experience of playing in this bowl game to the guys who want to be here next year
