Hated seeing the Welliver update.. hated that... Was hoping to see him blow up here... Now we'll see it from afar (kinda like what Nebrich did when he left us for Fordham... kid had a pretty good career there)

smh...

on the flipside... the floodgates are starting to re-open in the portal again... so, we should see another portal QB (please not a another PWO... we'd be regressing if that happened... again)

He's exactly right. It's going to take leadership like this to fully address these issues. A seasoned guy like Mora who, frankly, is near the end of his career and coaching a program like UCONN that is not in the national spotlight, is probably the right type of person to spearhead this.

At the end of the day, college athletics was originally establised for the benefit and development of the student athlete. At the highest realms of college athletics we could not possibly be farther away from that objective than we presently are. There is some really bad stuff going on and I suspect we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

I have a theory…no knowledge…he is getting paid as WR1 at WMU and he would probably get paid as a WR2 or 3 at UConn?
This could be true. It might be time to.start seeing some of these moves no longer as downgrades in schools but salary increases for the player.

Interesting. Do you think the compensation would be that different? It seems like a small reason to change schools, having to reestablish oneself all over again at a school that appears to be a lateral wrt UConn at best. Sounds like he was told something by UConn.

I honestly don’t know..as I said…it’s a theory. Players that aren’t obvious pro prospects are going to get the money that they can in college. Understandably.

I just read something in the NYT that mentioned top QB's are going for $4 million. Insane. An article on Belichek. Apparently UNC spent $20 million on him and his staff, and he was not hired by the AD but by the Board of Trustees.

We will see this in person this year. Duke paid their qb $4mm per year. When did Duke decide it wanted to spend SEC like NIL dollars on football?

Probably around the time they realized that they'll need to be attractive enough in football to get a P2 offer when the GOR expires if they want to remain a very high profile basketball program.

Maybe one day we’ll realize that. To be fair, it’s one thing to realize it and another to have donors willing to cough up enough dough to get us there.
