It sounds like it's a simple case of a walk on looking for a scholarship somewhere. He thought he was offered one at UTEP. Either he wasn't or they changed their mind.

Scholarship, NIL, they were courting multiple players and ultimately chose someone else.

The portal makes Tinder look well adjusted. This doesn't end until there is a players union and a collective bargaining agreement to standardize the process with a period to enter, a separate period for teams to extend formal binding offers and a third period for players to accept them.

You'll see earlier and more aggressive tampering in the pre-portal period but at least everything else will be face up.

We haven't yet begun to see the coming surge in the number of disputes over NIL and position agreements that were or weren't met.

sounds like UTEP found something else so he had to find somewhere else

Wait, they swiped left?

Used to be Texas - Pan American. The athletics are based at the campus in Edinburg
Used to live in the neighborhood in the early 80’s. Had a fairly nice baseball facility and hosted a number of early season tournaments. Brought in a lot of northern midwest schools to play some place warm during the early season. A lot of “snow birds” happy to pay to watch pretty good baseball.

It is a sign of our improving talent level that when we lose someone who has been playing they are going to the P-4, and guys who aren’t playing are getting offers from lower D-1 (as opposed to when there was no lower D-1 than us).

Before I read your reply I was thinking to myself that based on this year, would Marshall be a lateral move? I’m still not sure what the answer is as they had a good year, but Brock was not on the 2 deep and played in 4 games, yet he ended up in a great spot for him. So I echo your position that the talent level is definitely improving.

Storrs Central roster shows Joe Fagnano returning next year.
3 years at Maine, 2023 only played 2 games before injury, played 2024.
Did I miss something?

Count me in the "Hmmm??" column. First question needs to be answered is does he have eligibility, I guess Yes. After that, hmmmm??? Wouldn't a guy like to make some NIL money and continue to play ball?

The scenario that I am hoping for is that Joe has eligibility, and knows that Cole Welliver is "The Answer", and he is deciding whether he wants to be that veteran QB on the bench mentoring the young guy while being ready at a moments notice(again).

I updated the running list the other day but further confirmation. Not sure what happened w/ the Kentucky offer.

I don’t understand. Kentucky mush have withdrawn their offer. He was thrilled to go to Kentucky and then we didn’t hear anything else

They also have the following players listed:
Lee Molette(db), Amir Renwick(lb) and Jack Stewart(ol) - could they also be coming back?

and they do not have listed John Neider - now that would be a shame as he did a great job on specials.

Molette appears to have withdrawn from the portal. And Stewart was out all year with injury.

He may have decided to end his football career and go on with his life.
Are you guys sure he still has eligibility to play at UConn? It would be great if he stayed another year, but not sure he can.

They are just including scholarship players. Hopefully Neider will be back.

Seems like Neider would make a nice safety.
Zmart, sorry but there are alot of PWO's and regular walk-ons on that list, and I also hope Neider is still around.
