I have local interest in Passmore since he played at Cocoa High School which is a town away from me in Brevard County, FL. A well-respected football program which has won multiple (7) Florida championships which included Passmore's senior year. They won again this season which was their third straight. But Tim never seemed to play so not surprised that his name is in the portal.
Not his fault. The DL play has been damn good in Mora's 3 years here. When we lost Carter Hooper, I was bummed, he was solid at end. They replaced him with Barton and he was better. Gourdine and Stafford were solid interior guys for a years and Choute played well. Has been a pleasant surprise to see them find so many good DL players to plug in.

I think I remember RE2 saying DL was the toughest to recruit. Mora seems to be doing well there.

at Lowell we had a hockey player in an engineering program... the scorekeeper is also a dean and was a semi-pro player in the 70s and I mean this in the least favorable way that it was insisted that the student will stay current with the studies with said dean watching him like a hawk.

Some athletes are just nuts and can put it all together but my understanding is that it isn't easy and that summer semesters do a bit of lifting.
Never was even at the lower levels of comp. Didn't have the scholly availability also.

He also really hated transfers. Mora is 3x the coach Edsall was. I'll always remember the "1.0 years" fondly, but the reality is that Mora is a pro-level head coach and Edsall isn't / wasn't...

Guessing that wouldn't be an "in-season" class
I mean....it's Org C; or any sort of programming language, high level mathematics....choose your own adventure. Does it really matter? These kids are doing some amount of training/working out in the offseason and some may be holding down jobs/demanding internships. STEM majors are not exactly 'coast' career paths.

Probably as far as I would have been able to is Diff EQ and even then I'd probably pull a C/C+ (WITH the curve) if I were lucky.

Re: STEM majors-

I cannot conceive of succeeding in a class like organic chemistry while simultaneously fulfilling the practice and workout obligations of an FBS athlete. I don't care what school you're attending that's a ridiculous accomplishment.
UConn class of 65 had a starting offensive lineman who was a pharmacy major with organic chemistry and harder courses but that era didn't require the time working out and practicing that football requires today. Football is the major these days for most kids or they have zero social life.

Out of curiosity, could Hardy come back even though he didn't play the bowl?? or is that door closed for good?

We do need DE/LB and he did standout under Coach Brock

Just not sure if Coach Mora would want him back cuz he didn't play with his TEAM brothers at Fenway

I think Mora and DB are playing the portal just right. The kids they hope to retain they leave the door open and let the market dictate their next step. If they see value above and beyond what it will cost in the portal they match or entice the offer. Even Michigan is going to have to operate with a budget of some kind. I suspect that is what happened with Bell.

Couple things on this. First, these kids should all be represented by qualified agents that understand this system and the contracts that are required. Second, this is a pure market play. As a player you have a certain market value and you should try to understand what it is……and sometimes that number will be zero. It’s going to be a very gritty business.

-> The announcement is significant for UConn as it makes its best effort to compete with power-conference programs despite being independent, without major revenue coming from a TV deal. Bell’s return means the Huskies will not lose their top receiver for the third year in a row after Aaron Turner left for Cincinnati in 2022, and Justin Joly went to NC State following his team-best 578-yard campaign in 2023. <-

Person in front of me in pharmacy school was all-American field hockey. Honors/Deans List (not me) and she probably missed less class than I did (sorry Dad who will probably read this)
