UCLA Post Game Thread

Hey NCAA committee, that's two, count em, 2 Big East teams in the sweet 16.

You can count the number of ACC teams on one finger.

Show some respect next time. But we'll take the $12million so far for the conference.
Should be a penalty for # of losses

Nice win. Malachi held his own, AK rose up. Ross continues to elevate. Now a week to heal up and hopefully Silas is there and Stew can provide minutes, as we need options.

Thanks god we kept that B10 team out or else the S16 would be loaded with their teams. MSU, Purdue, Michigan, Nebraska, Illinois, Iowa.

BE more teams in S16 than ACC.
True but it was nice to see Iowa knock off Florida and Golden.

Solo needs to get out of the shooter mentality and get into a scorer mentality. Instead of shooting his way out of whatever funk he is in. Just look to see the ball go in the basket anyway that he can. Drive get fouled get to the line whatever you have to do.
He's completely gone away from the midrange where he is lethal.

Not ruling out SJU...

They are going to annoy the heck out of Duke's guards all game. Not sure Duke is ready for that.

On the flip side, SJU is going to have its hands full down low if Duke is healthy. I think they can somewhat negate Boozer but Ngongba is a load for whoever isn't on Boozer.

I really hope Solo keeps his head up. After the three misses and subsequent foul for the UCLA and-1, he looked like a defeated man. Bright side is he always keeps positive on the bench but I’m really pulling for the kid to see some shots start to fall.
Shooters shoot, his game is coming

Just some honesty here so don't kill me, but I don't think they played very well. The amount of unforced turnovers was crazy. Besides Karaban, and Ross too, they weren't very good from three. Defense clamped down when they had to. UCLA didn't look very good but I do think UConn had something to do with that. Huskies did what they had to do and they're moving on to the Sweet 16. Pretty happy about that. Nice to have that to look forward to the entire work week.

By the way, the East Regional dates in DC are March 27 and March 29. Sound familiar? Good mojo!

I am finally seeing what some others having been saying for weeks now. Hurley should start Ross over Solo. I feel Ross’s confidence is sky high and he has contributed on both ends of the floor. Solo’s confidence seems to have taken a nose dive. Nothing against Solo, just seems it could be best for the team if Ross got the start.
No way, you start Ross and you will break Ball.

I’d like to see him use the midrange similar to Mullins where he’s pulling up near the free throw line from 12-15 feet and shooting it. He has that in his game. Plus he’d draw defenders and open up passing opportunities and offensive rebounding opportunities if he’s not hitting.

I think that SJU is tailor-made to defend Duke. Quick guards to push the perimeter offense away from the basket and then Ejiofor and Hopkins can defend Boozer and Ngongba.

They were not good. And UCLA was missing their best player.

Doesn't mean we should not be excited.

No thanks. We don't need anymore wildly ineffective takes to the rim. He has all but abandoned this mid range, so I'm game for some of that. He's not a scorer, he's a shooter. He had some great looks tonight that just didn't go in. He's 4 for his last 24.

It's the tourney - we have options. I'm all for limiting him at this point as we can't have him shooting us out of a game. We are playing real teams now, UCLA without their big wasn't all that good TBH.

We had 16 turnovers, many unforced. It's not like UCLA was a pressure oriented team. Cut those in half and we win by 20.

StJ vs Duke is gonna be really interesting as StJ has the muscle to defend Boozer and a guy like Mitchell to blanket Evans. Issue is going to be how StJ is going to score. Take the under in that one.
