UCLA Post Game Thread

Gonna need Ball to break the shooting slump, but the defense and silly fouls…….

Too good a talent to play like that. I don’t get it. If your shots not falling…..dig in on defense and fight for rebounds 🤷
That's his issue - if he's not hitting shots, he's a problem in all other areas. He was -13 in a game we won by 16 - process that, in 13 minutes. As soon as his feet hit the floor, the team looked disoriented.

I'm hoping Stew is back so he can be the extra weight we need out there. Solo has had a whole year to figure it out.

Karaban legacy game. He brought everything we needed and more. UCLA’s plan was to take Tarris out of the game, which worked pretty well, but they forgot there’s a 2x champ that steps up in big moments.

Jayden Ross was the ignition, tremendous on Dent, reliable shooter now which is so exciting, and non stop energy.

Love to see Drummond by the bench too, it’s a real family.

SURVIVE AND ADVANCE!
All of this, but the d especially. Dent is an excellent college guard and the defensive effort is invisible in the box score.

Ross kept Dent out of the lane and that was a big part of disrupting their offense.

That UCLA team played with typical Cronin toughness and lots of respect for their fight and effort.

Nice win. Malachi held his own, AK rose up. Ross continues to elevate. Now a week to heal up and hopefully Silas is there and Stew can provide minutes, as we need options.

Thanks god we kept that B10 team out or else the S16 would be loaded with their teams. MSU, Purdue, Michigan, Nebraska, Illinois, Iowa.

BE more teams in S16 than ACC.
Not ruling out SJU...

Great win UConn. UConn Nation rejoice. They defeated a good UCLA team that had wins over Purdue, Nebraska, and very recently Michigan State, UConn's next opponent. Getting to the Sweet 16 is great accomplishment and shouldn't be taken for granted.

Reed Jr., Ross, Demary, Mullins, and Malachi had solid contributions. Especially Reed as UCLA's game plan was to take him away by collapsing to close entry pass lanes.

Alex Karaban, do the honors of putting UConn's name tag in the Sweet 16-this was your night.

WHAT A WIN

Ross and AK were the stars, of course. Ross easily played his best game of his career and he fouled out, which says a lot about how good he was AND how bad the calls were.

But, Mullins was good, Malachi was mostly good, Silas was good in his role and Reed was solid. Even Reibe played well in his minutes. That's a dangerous team when 1 guy is struggling and 7 are playing + basketball. The last few months we've had 1-2 + guys and 4 guys struggling.

I'm feeling great once we're here. Let's GOOOOO

.-.
AK - as he always does, hits enormous shots

Malachi - 6 assists, solid D

Silas - just having him on the court is huge.

Ross - we are, rn, a better team with him on the court

Mullins - huge shots to give us some life when we needed it. He’s got to be a 15-20/gm guy moving forward.

Solo - …

And to the fool who said he hoped we’d lose bc he hates this team. Pretty sure he’s a regular poster. You do not deserve this team. You’re an embarrassment.

First game was Reed's best game ever (and one of 3 performances w/ 30+ points/25+ rebounds since 1960 in the dance)

Next game is Karaban's best game ever with 27 points.

Mullins wakes up with 17 points and sees a couple 3's drop.

Demary played, and didn't look hobbled. Now has 4-5 days more to heal up, though will need to practice a little.

Ross is a defensive menace, and throws in some offense with good cuts, good passes, and the occasional 3.

Reibe didn't look lost this game, I think he's on the upswing.

But Ball .......

Still, I like our chances on the coming weekend. All 3 teams are tough and it's a heck of a regional final 4. But play our game and cut down on the turnovers and we've got this.

Defense played well, but that UCLA team was rough on offense.
