... or it could go to 16 teams like FCS and have an open, unbiased, fair process that always finds the winner. No undefeated team should sit at home. Ever.

Eight is enough.

Eight is enough.

That's what they said about 4.

The reason why 8 is not enough is exactly for a team like UCF in their first undefeated season. They had a much worse starting point, and in week 14, they had only moved up to 12 in the CFP. An undefeated team. 12.

No, they need to do it right. 16. And no nonsense about student-athlete welfare, because FCS students seem absolutely fine...

The way to get to a 16 playoff system is by creating conference divisions large enough to represent old time conferences. Then they can bypass conference championship games and have all division winners in the playoffs.

No one said conference realignment is over. Besides emo fans.

It's not about the size of the conferences.

The main issue is that expanding to 16 takes away some of the control, and more importantly, some of the money from the current power elite. What is Alabama's incentive to allow Boise or UCF to thrive? None...

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I'll be happy that UCF doesn't make the playoffs this year. More importantly, they'd get absolutely throttled by Alabama with their backup QB and then the committee would use those results as evidence that G5 teams shouldn't be selected in the future. This is not the best G5 team to put into that scenario if we wanna have some success.

I agree with you. After Milton was injured, I thought the same thing. The Committee will put backup QB UCF in and they'll stumble and the country will use that nonsense as a reason to keep the G5 out. But Milton's injury also made me even more mad at the ridiculousness that UCF didn't get into the Playoff last year. They were an unquestioned top-4 team in 2017. I think they could have beaten 2017 Alabama but we'll never know and that's why college football is a scam.

Everyone keep your fingers crossed that the Committee sticks to their word and values that 13th data point to catapult Ohio State and Oklahoma over Notre Dame. If it does, chaos happens...which is probably the reason why it won't happen. Got to keep the Old Money Club happy.

Dammit. Was really hoping Ohio St would leapfrog Notre Dame. This Playoff appearance means ND will never join the ACC full-time.

Notre Dame's schedule is not all that impressive. Clemson destroying them might weaken their position.

Damn right ; but, finding the best team is what matters in FCS. In FBS, or whatever its called nowadays, its about the money and the ego.

I did see that UMaine trashed Jacksonville St. A Florida team playing in Maine in December, now that's home field advantage. Oh, where's our old friend from James Madison? The Dukes got beat by Colgate, who will now be given the opportunity to not get crushed by North Dakota St.

This was the easiest route for the Committee. Oklahoma looked more impressive tham Ohio St and Georgia had 2 losses. Putting UGA in over Oklahaoma/Ohio St/ND would have caused an internal brawl. UCF was never in the discussion. That said, ND may still be concnered because it looks to have been a close vote and if ND can't get in after an undefeated season, then, well. Also, the B1G is still not going to be happy having missed out on the playoffs for 3 years now. They can break either the XII (taking Kansas and Oklahoma) or the ACC (taking UVA, UNC, and Duke) sooner than later maybe in their best interest.

Agree. Notre Dame's best game on its resume - by FAR - was a close week 1 win against Michigan. The same Michigan team who Ohio State just dismantled last week.

And also in the same opponent match game, Notre Dame beat Northwestern by 10 when Ohio State beat them by 21.

Notre Dame is in the Playoff based on smoke and mirrors. They are going to get absolutely throttled by Clemson.

Tough to criticize ND's schedule and then try to make a case for UCF. ND's schedule is much more impressive. UCF's biggest win is Cincy. Positive is that UCF will get a new year's bowl against a top team to showcase their program.

If you think Notre Dame played a light schedule, take a look at Clemson's slate.

UCF would outgun ND, hang with a weak OU defense, have a shot against Clemson and struggle against a professional team in Bama.

No question the ACC had a down year. Anytime Syracuse and BC are/were ranked, you know the ACC had a down year. At least Clemson played a 13th game though. I thought a 13th game should be the minimum if you play against a mediocre schedule, but apparently not. Notre Dame can effectively schedule light every year and, if they run the table, they're in. No reason to join the ACC now.

OSU was robbed. 12-1 record. Beats #4 last week, wins their CCG this week, and gets left out for a team that played one less game than everyone else and didn't even win their conference.

PS - The full rankings came out - #1 Alabma, #2 Clemson, #3 ND, #4 Oklahoma, #5 Georgia, #6 Ohio St. I bet #7 was Michigan and #8 was finally UCF. To go undefeated for 2 years and not to get even close to being selected for the playoffs. The entire thing is rigged. The only good new here is that it appears it was a close vote between Oklahoma and Georgia while Ohio St appears not to have been considered for the #4 seed. The B1G may not let that pass unanswered, which is godo for those looking to destroy the current playoff model and/or chaos.

UCF has got this.

LSU isn't as good on offense as half the AAC, and they have liabilities defensively. Greedy Williams in particular is an awful player that has gotten scorched by good receivers all year - UCF needs to target himm
