Along with Carole Owens, our post coach ("Owens on Owens"). Yeah, that was on McGraw's Bench yesterday.
Remember when Geno visited her -- with much hoopla -- in December 2015? Has UConn moved on, with the transfer of Stevens and signing of Collier?

BTW, MM also visited another forward/center discussed here in the past (by Coach Bill), Danielle Cosgrove.

It appears that UCONN has moved on from Owens probably as much to do with Camara's transfer as it does Collier. Of Camara Geno said something along the lines of : "She was better than anyone we could have got coming out of HS". N. Smith and Nelson-Ododa are still being looked at by UCONN. I think Danielle Cosgrove would be amazing in the UCONN system & hate that I'm going to have to root against her if she picks the Irish.

Thanks for the input. Regarding Owens vs. Camara, I get that conclusion totally. Camara is battle-tested and ready to go. In 2018, The Irish could use a banger down low to join our 2017 bigs, Patterson (more of a high poster) and Vaughn, who is having a good year at Paul VI (at least in terms of basketball experience).

On the other hand, I'm also in complete agreement with you on Cosgrove. She'd excel in both UConn and ND's offenses. Love her range and her ability to shoot those swooping jump hooks both lefty and righty. We've signed two guards and a point guard. MM said to expect four, maybe five, so one of these -- maybe both if the right players/fit? -- will be a forward/post.

MM and team have been hitting the road hard during extended breaks and really going after it. So far, so good.

My kid's team scrimmaged against her earlier this year, runs the court well for a 6'9" player but plays way to passively.....still, she blocked several of my daughter's shots too

  2. WBB: Wisconsin, Rutgers, and Indiana among the schools recruiting Andrea Aquino, 6-9 C, Eastside HS (NJ-2018)
  3. Talented and 6-foot-9, women's basketball recruit Andrea Aquino of New Jersey's Eastside becoming a star
She's relatively new to the sport. How much upside does she have?

She has a decent shooting touch, only average as a shot blocker considering her size but runs the floor very well.............I've only seen her live in a scrimmage situation so it would be unfair to make a judgement on her aggressiveness or lack there of........she is clearly a work in progress and will at a minimum be an adequate post presence for a good DI program....................but certainly not UConn material

Heck, I live only 10-15 minutes from her high school. I'll check Paterson Eastside's schedule and try to catch a game.

I have seen nothing on ONO's possible knee injury but here's a thought from her on motivation:

The greatest motivating factor that’s gotten me to where I am today is… “My parents. They’ve sacrificed so much time, effort and money to help me be the best player that I can be. I find that really inspiring. I feel like I owe it to them to give it everything I’ve got every time I step on the floor.”

Olivia Nelson-Ododa's knee injury is a season ender. Don't know the exact nature of the injury but she's done.

Oh no, for ONO! I hope it's not too serious and something that she can recover from easily and quickly, even if it's after the end of the season.

Agree. May she recover quickly and smoothly and be able to continue playing basketball next season.

ONO's injury mentioned in local sports page:

Winder-Barrow, which mostly breezed through its region slate, had to sweat it out a little more the final week after nationally top-rated junior center Olivia Nelson-Ododa went down Tuesday night at Gainesville with a season-ending knee injury.
With the 6-foot-5 Nelson-Ododa out of the starting lineup, the Lady Doggs moved senior forward Lexi Maddox inside in a 66-49 win Friday against Habersham Central and again Saturday.
But the 6-foot College of Charleston signee responded, scoring 13 points and doing solid work on the glass.
“She got inside and scored tonight so we’re proud of that,” Thomas said of Maddox’s effort. “Everybody has had to shift around and make adjustments. It’s just going to take some more time, but to win those last two without Olivia on the floor was a big confidence booster for them. They know we have work to do. We’re not satisfied with some of the things we did tonight and we’ve just got to get better.
While not having the dominant presence of Nelson-Ododa presents a challenge to the Lady Doggs’ championship hopes, Thomas said the focus for now is one day at a time.
