Rational folks in the fanbase really do spend a lot of time arguing with the bottom of the barrel on this website. I think we all need to go outside and get some fresh air.

I think most people are just taking a wait and see approach with Carlton or any other big we bring in since we have been miserable with our bigs under Ollie. We all hope it will change but need to see some evidence.

And we will continue to be miserable until we bring in those who understand the game and are smart enough to take the coaching in and learn. Hear's hoping Cobb and Carlton have a knack to knowing what to do already and can learn what they need to do to be as good as they can be. Enoch and Durham the same, I think Durham will eventually be that guy but admit the jury's out on Steve.

I have no insider knowledge but this sounds about right. In past recruitment's, we have had folks with insider knowledge who admitted their source was Glenn (or his family). He needs to learn some discretion, especially when he doesn't even have the right information.

This is a good point, but I have to take everything Chief says about Miller with many grains of salt. There's some very weird and embarrassing personal beef there that's unbecoming of someone of Chief's age.

From what Chief has observed, Durham has a good BBIQ. He needs to add a lot of over-all strength and confidence in his knees, which grows by playing. He knows how to keep the ball high; something Brimah and Facey never learned or applied.

Enoch checks a lot of boxes and I think his slow reactions are as much due to mentally getting up to the pace of the game as physical. He is not slow for his size and he can jump - he is just not a quick leaper.

The scary part is we are relaying on Travis to built up his body and Glen to Coach them up as Bigs. Clyde is getting older now - but I would love if he put them in his post torture chamber for a month this summer. Stairmaster - please no responses - "torture chamber" is a basketball term not actual terrorism.

Moore, Hobbs and Pat use to discretely share stuff - but they were often on target or at least not so overconfident - optimistic with a touch of realism. There's one current coach who is pretty realistic too. I see nothing wrong with that. It's good to throw us fans a bone now and then. Let's not bite the hands that feed us.

I think because of this overconfidence on plan A's we have lost out on some plan B guys. Some of these dudes are really outstanding players. Calhoun was a master at knowing when to dump plan A and take plan B. Admittedly not perfect, but very good.

My own take on Glen is that he relies too much on his relationships with certain coaches and how many times he watched a kid play. What I think he misses is that relationship with the kid and a couple key buttons to push.

And please - I beg of you - don't get me started on spending more than 15 minutes going over class content and schedules to a dude who thinks he's a 1 and done on an official visit. Under Calhoun that would have been a fireable offense - just kidding.

UConn just straight could not offer him a scholarship. He had academic problems that were solvable, but as you say, APR bullspit made that too dicey here. If they could have offered, he'd be here.

I think he entered Oregon late as a result of some of those issues.

We really need to get away from this no risk, APR rules all thinking. It reminds me of our concussion process this season before we woke up. Very few great things in life come with no risk. Have you ever asked a beautiful woman out? It takes balls but it's worth the risk.

Guessing he'll be in Storrs for the summer and working out hard, if he wants to play and earn a spot in the rotation as he says he will listen. Expect a lean, mean fighting machine by October!

These are the same people complaining we should have went after Colson but would have been putting up a stink if we did because he was in the 150 ranking range

This is somewhat valid, but there are different kinds of low-rated guys.

There are low-rated guys who possess some physical attributes, but are raw/projects and require a lot of coaching up. Someone like Brimah falls in this category.

Other low-rated guys are considered to have a low ceiling because of limited physical traits, though they may have good skill and IQ. Colson was one of these, due to his height. In our incoming class, I would put Carlton in this category moreso than the other.

Unless you have great coaching and player development (hint: we don't), you're better off going for the skill/IQ, even if they might not blow you away at the combine.

I am all for giving dudes a second chance. I have no special insight about his academics, just that I stereo type JUCO players.

We be crazy if we don't offer again. The kid can flat out play. Can shoot and has really good vision on passes.

Calhoun use to say don't look at matchups as being just one sided. Imagine Tremont, Gilbert, Adams, Larrier (if healthy) with Durham or Enoch for 5 minute runs.
