BasketballRecruiting.Rivals.com - Twitter Tuesday: Graduate transfers, Indiana recruiting, Tremont Waters

While it would look like Trevon Duval’s decision could affect the recruitment of Tremont Waters, that is not the case here. Originally committed to Georgetown, Waters backed off of his commitment a month ago. Ever since, it's been difficult to find information as to where things stand with the Connecticut native.

Duke reached out to Waters’ camp last month, but nothing developed. A number of schools have been mentioned with the super skilled senior, including Georgetown, which has done its best to remain in the mix following the coaching change on the Hilltop.

The three programs that have had some sort of traction with him are UConn, Western Kentucky and Creighton. The Blue Jays have had great success with its guard talent while WKU is bringing in one of the best mid-major recruiting classes that we have seen in recent years. UConn, the local school, has a need at the lead guard spot after seeing its own 2017 signee, Makai Ashton-Langford, ask for his release earlier in the spring before signing with Providence.

Could Waters commit tomorrow? Yes. Could he wait until the summer? Yes. It would be anyone’s guess, including the school he plans on attending. Whatever school lands Waters will be adding a top-flight floor general who can immediately produce next season.
tl;dr

It's fluid.

Kid lives 2 hours from Syracuse -- Cuse was the likely destination but apparently there was a rumored transcript issue. Enter Western Kentucky which has 0 academic standards. Regarding the topic at hand, Western Kentucky is currently 2 over the scholarship limit so not sure how they could still be in the running for Waters.

EDIT: From looking at WKU boards, they are saying they have 1 more scholarship left.

....Doron Sheffer, Ray Allen, Rip Hamilton, Jeremy Lamb, Denham Brown, Earl Kelly, Karl Hobbs....

Not exactly chronological but also can't leave out all-time greats even though I get you guys were running with the point guard lineage, but the quote did say have great success "with it's guard talent".
Lest we forget the immortal Covington Cormier.....

Thought I read he had to make a choice by today?

I believe it's the last day to sign a National Letter of Intent, which means essentially nothing. This could drag out well into the summer.

What is taking this kid so long to make a decision? My gosh. This is what's wrong with today's athletes. They can't make a commitment and stick with it. Sorry, but I'm not feeling it...

In large part I blame the staff for allowing this charade to go on. At some point, for the overall health of the program, you should put it a deadline out there even at the expense of possibly losing the kid. No one is worth this.

It's pretty simple. He is looking for the best spot for him. Duke was a real possibility for him to go in as the only point guard on the roster, so he had to wait to see how that played out. That would have been a great opportunity for him. And, UConn does have Gilbert, also a point guard, who will theoretically be a freshman next year and Adams who played point guard this year. Unfortunately, it seems like his options are now limited as not many brand name schools have a need for a point guard to walk in and start.

I would think it's a very tough decision.

19 year olds should commit when I want them to commit because the world revolves around my fandom.

The fact that this kid is not considering the feelings of random middle aged men in making the most important decision in his life to date tells me all I need to know about him and, by extension, today's young people generally.

How does this remotely affect 'the overall health of the program'. We are not NOT signing anyone because of Waters. We have plenty of scholarships. You just move on as if nothing's happening and be happy if a stud horse falls in your lap. NOBODY outside of this board cares about the perception of this situation vis a vis the program.

No kid is worth what? Having to keep checking the message board to see if there's any news?

We've got open scholarships. It's not like he's preventing us from bringing on another player. And even if he was, there's nobody else available (that we can realistically get) that's better than him.

He can pull an Andre Drummond as far as I'm concerned.
