Miller, Brimah, Nolan, Facey and Enoch combined for 38 minutes, 1 point and zero rebounds in the first half. We got our asses absolutely kicked in the paint. KU's bigs and guards did what they wanted in the lane.

On the game it was 75 minutes, six points and four rebounds for that quintuplet. This group didn't have the gang rebounding prowess of the '14 group - Bazz & Boatright were very good rebounding guards. Hell, vs UK in the title game Kromah matched the output of our entire 5-man frontcourt against Kansas and did so in only 20 minutes.

DHam acknowledged unsolicited in the postgame presser that the KU guards' pressure got to them and they couldn't get into their offense during that opening blitz. Was the frontcourt any good that game, obviously no, but they're not the ones taking the ball out bounds, bringing the ball up the court and trying catch the ball off of pindowns, curls, screens, etc, KU's guards got all up under our guards and created havoc on the defensive end with ball pressure. On Jalen Adams very first possesion he got the ball ganked from him due to ball pressure just trying to dribble in the halfcourt, it was an issue, don't understand the need to deny the obvious when the actual players who played in the damn game admitted it.

Yeah...I never said the offense or guard play WASN'T an issue lol. We got our tail kicked in every aspect of the game by KU. The original post I quoted made it sound like guard play was the only reason we lost.

Chicken or the egg. KU could guard up top as hard as they wanted because:
A. Our guards generally cannot blow by, and
B. Other than Miller, zero worry that one of our big men will make someone pay for overplaying the guards.

We lost vs Kansas because the offense was garbage. this notion that we couldn't hang because of the bigs is nonsense, we were doomed the moment Gibbs & Hamilton matched up with Mason & seldon; the latter two put on a clinic at both ends of the court.

Think uconn 2014 vs msu/Florida, except the shoes on the other foot. KO has got to keep getting playmakers if he wants to run the same heavy pnr offense. Zach brown, Enoch , and diarra is a ton of size in 2017. Need more guards/talented wings

We lost to Kansas because Miller broke down. He was fed the ball 4/5 times in the post on makeable shots in the first half and he scored nothing. If he hits those shots, Ollie feeds him four more times. The lead went to twenty because Miller missed shots that he hit all season. He also had one rebound. We needed 12pt, 6rbs from Miller.
We got 2pts, 1rb. He averaged 16.5 pts and 8rbs for Cornell.

There's been a lot of arguing as to whether or not we should use the one currently open spot for a guard or a big. This should settle that argument, no? It would seem we certainly need another guard now if only for emergencies but there is also ro for a big.

We will have 3 guys (JA, AG, DH) with a high level handle, and another (RP) with a decent/ok handle. We need at least 1 more to break a press, or spell a guard in the event that there is foul trouble on the perimeter.

Even with SCJr, we would have needed that though, far more, imo, than a big. The last 2 championships we won were with lower level bigs, and guys who could handle the ball and shoot.

Comments about Justin Simon being a 6'5 PG in the mold of Doron Scheffer are way off. In all the Brewster games I saw last year I would say there wasn't even a single possession where he was the primary ball handler. He handled the ball well in transition situations like Hamilton and is an excellent player but he isn't a natural PG. Off guard ok, wing player ok, PG no. Didn't see him take quantities of shots to say he is or is not a good deep shooter. He plays within the flow of the game and is athletic. He would be a particularly good player for a 'havoc' system with defensive pressure and transition.

Agreed. He did show some very good defensive skills in high school. He would be amazing in a press system.

Can't find a lot of hard evidence behind this but still interesting to take note of and think about as a possibility.

really like Simon a lot. I was confused why he never got tick @ Zona . Instead Miller favored that tiny pg Cartwright

Yeah Simon only got 12.9% of minutes, while Cartwright got 51.9%. Seems pretty clear that's the reason he's transferring, plus Arizona bringing in 2 5* guys around his height.

Surprising, when they announced he was done for the year he talked in terms of his career being over.

Could be an OK starter on a Mid-Major, don't think he is anything special

He's not anything special but I would take him in a second assuming he can get back to what he was his junior year at Michigan. A fifth year guard who can shoot, post a high assist to turnover ratio, and offer experience in big games would seem to be just what the doctor ordered.

It's far from a guarantee that he's healthy enough to be that player, though, and I doubt he comes here even if he is. I'm a bit surprised he's leaving Michigan - they were so thin in the back-court this season that they were playing walk-ons, and with basically their entire roster coming back, they should be able to at least get back to the tournament.

In '14 Bazz led the team in rebounds up until the last couple of weeks of the season. As was said Boat had a lot of rebounds too. Our guards did not leak out but stayed home
because of poor rebounding by bigs. Those two guys however could play in the half court offense and create. Our guards leaked a lot this year and had big trouble with the half court offense and there you have it. Other teams killed us on the offensive glass. It's not too much to expect to have bigs who can rebound.

Frank Jackson coming in, K becoming a bit of a Calipari these things will happen. He's a real nice player, most teams would love to have him.

This is like scrutinizing the waiver wire after nfl teams have made their last cuts. Maybe you can come up with surprise 4* and 5* players in the spring, and with some experience. Per 'Laugh In' for those who remember - "Veryyyyy Interesting"

Albrecht is an interesting one. Not an impact guy, and missed most of the season to injury, but he was Michigan's starting PG last year and played 32 minutes per. Career 40% shooter from 3, gets some assists, doesn't turn it over. He might be looking for a place he can start, and if that's the case, he'll find one, but if he's ok being a rotation guy, he's definitely my first choice.

Ohio State, a team on the schedule for next year, brought in 5 guys in their 2015 class. 3 of them have already transferred. Austin Grandstaff in the middle of the season, and then Daniel Giddens and Mickey Mitchell just got their release, too. Only remaining players from that class are Jaquan Lyle and AJ Harris, and the reports are that Harris could be transferring soon too.

Where is Giddens going? I think I'm thinking of the right guy, PF strong looking kid with some nice upside? Take him in a second.

But also knows how to play basketball we don't need another Lubin.

Lubin wasn't Top 100 with a slew of P5 offers coming out of HS though.
