Pitino is doing wonders for New York City basketball. This is the new professional college landscape and Pitino is kicking ass, stacking his roster with the best players he can find. Why all the haters? Dude is good at what he does it's that simple, talk about a comeback. 3 years ago this guy is coaching in Greece, then Iona in the NCAA's, third year here with St. John's and they will be one of the best teams in the nation, and they are AGAIN, an arch rival for us in the BIG EAST. These games this year with them will be killer, I love it.

LOL!! NYC basketball will be just fine with or without Pitino. And he's 72, he isn't sticking around for long. What's going to happen to NYC basketball in 5 years when he's long gone ?

And how relevant were they before Pitino showed up ? Right, not at all. And Pitino is enough of a legendary coach that he can make the all mercenary team work, for now. Whoever replaces him, we'll see. Bill Self couldn't do it this year.

His JUCO year in 2022-23 doesn't count with the court ruling, and the 15 game freshman season was the Covid year so he still has 1 year remaining

If we got CBM (or any other elite wing instead of a PF) to replace Alex, then Adams and Furphy and Ross can forget about PT. The rotation at the 1-3 would be insane. We’d also need to bring in a backup big that can play the 4/5.

Silas 15 / Smith 25
Ball 25 / Mullins 15
CBM 25 / Silas 10 / Mullins 5
Stew 25 / Transfer 15
Reed 25 / Reibe 10 / Transfer 5

25: Starters + Smith
20: Mullins / Transfer

My guess is if his son does well at Xavier he will be the next St. John’s coach. He will still have access to Mike Resople $$$$ for the best transfers money can buy.

Any chance he’s delaying announcing anything to gain leverage for NIL negotiations? Ie the less quality PFs in the portal, the more valuable he becomes? He and Hurley are BFFs obviously but business is business.

It's a good conspiracy theory but I don't think Karaban or his family would do that.

We don’t really know what is going on behind the scenes. AK could be going pro and there is someone in the wings. Along with other scenarios. We just don’t know. Chill pill time.
