Don't see the fit, we need a big athletic forward and a backup point guard. He's neither.

I loved Jasper Floyd at Fairfield and he had a damn good season at North Texas, a top-75 team that lost to UC Irvine in the NIT semifinals.

Floyd is a thickly built 6'3 195 two-way point guard who was Fairfield's best defender and fit in excellently in North Texas' defensive system. Also shot 34% from three last season and has a career 79 FT%. If he's open to backing up at a team like UConn, he'd be an excellent fit.

If we get penalized for using the power of deduction based on our coach being candid publicly, then the warden here is truly on a wacked power trip.

I remember that rule originally coming about on the 'yard, and it was just to stop speculation based on nothing. We actually had a relative of a player (Emeka's back-up) as a regular - so we knew that transfer rumors could get back to the players, and it didn't do much good, so we tried to stop it in its tracks. This board was basically "social media" back then (that and things like the ESPN.com comments section, which was a dumpster fire).

Once there was a media report or a quote, it was fair game.

If I read your post correctly, Ross is waiting for Alex to decide. If Alex comes back, Ross will leave. If Alex goes, Ross stays. Either way, we still need another forward. Wouldn’t it make sense for Danny to bring in a better player than Ross, sooner than later, as a lot of available talent is flying off the portal?

Well I’m not going to imply that he’s staying or leaving. What I will say is if there’s a better, more proven skilled wing available then no matter, we need him to be at Storrs. The reality is question marks don’t win titles better players with the ability to make plays do. I hope we don’t assume there will be a jump but that’s just me. I do trust them, for the most part.

I've gotten a rap on my knuckles for less on here. :)

What I meant is Ross is still here so why replace him with someone else for his role. I'm assuming he's staying since he hasn't said he's leaving.

My guess is outside adding perhaps one or two people, we won't know the final roster for quite a while.

Logically, including walk-ons we will need to be around 15 bodies in order to hold competitive practices. I imagine that at most we would want three to be walk on level players. I can see picking up an emergency point guard and an emergency center very late in the process. Players who have plated at a low level D1 program who wouldn't mind the prospect of virtually zero playing time to be part of a program capable of a deep tournament run.

Are they hard to find, or are there a lot of options?
What I meant was that there are usually a lot of guys total, but not a lot of guys that accept backup roles as a transfer.

Mega athlete and dog - not great offensively.
Yeap if he was willing to be a backup PF/C I could see a fit. Didn’t shoot the 3 much only 10-34. Looks like a Houston type of player. He looked really good against us 2 years ago when playing for Texas in MSG. Had 21 points and 8 rebounds.

We could definitely use a kid like this in the rotation, don't think he'd be willing to come off the bench.

Houston or SEC kinda kid. Mature bodied.

He said in an interview that the unwritten rule of not going after players in your conference is over. I think he will consider transfers from other Big East teams.
Speaking of that, 6'9" rising Sophomore Kris Parker from 'Nova is in the portal now

Dillon Mitchell would would be a hard pass for me unless it was a deep bench role. He shot 39% this year. And to be clear I'm not talking about from 3 or a total FG%. While standing on the free throw line with nobody guarding him

Honor Huff (CG) from Chattanooga in the portal. 5'10" small tough guard from Brooklyn. Career 39.5% 3pt shooter, Shot 41.6% last year on 315 shots (!!!). Many of his 3's were deeeeep.

Man he's small but his stats are great and his mixtape is fun to watch! Loads of teams all over him, including our BE rivals

Fun tape, horrible defensive metrics as you might expect at that size.
