I need something more than gut feel for me to make that statement but we clearly don’t see eye to eye here so it’s not worth discussing. But it is confidence related and not skill related.

I don’t know what you aren’t understanding here though. He got run early on and in other blotches and did not perform. Tools are great, but if you don’t perform they literally don’t matter. He has the tools to be. And his developing skillset is kind of a perfect fit between Solo and Stewart if we can bring it out.
I mean I’m not on an island, NBA scouts have seen it too without needing to see him play (and I said he was an NBA player way back in his commitment thread before he was even on NBA scouts radar).
If you all want to discount the scouts as well who didn’t need to see him play to see he has the tools that your prerogative.
Time will tellSaying the thing standing in the way of Ross playing more is lack of confidence is being wildly generous. He’s yet to really show any offensive skill and has been at best very inconsistent defensively. If I were him, I’d be spending every waking hour of my day working on defense and putting up 3’s. Turn yourself into a 3-and-D bench contributor.
I can relate also, I've been there. LolYeah man that’s why I just make the assumption that most of the people who write off Ross over not showing something in 3 minutes just hasn’t played.
Like it’s almost impossible to show much, especially offensively, with that little rope. You have like 3-4 offensive possessions to show something as the 5th option lmao.
I’d tell a personal story about this but I’m sure nobody cares lol
Tools are there to be… coached. If we want to get the most out of him we have to trust him and put him in position to succeed.I don’t know what you aren’t understanding here though. Are scouts still talking about him now? The past is cool, the now is actually relevant.
He’s being coached by the best staff in the game. He hasn’t improved much. These are the facts, you are stuck on a what-if with Ross. It’s all too much.Tools are there to be… coached. If we want to get the most out of him we have to trust him and put him in position to succeed.
Confidence is built through action, not kind words in a presser.
There were a couple of factors that hurt being able to truly develop players this year. From a coaching perspective as well as a former player (albeit soccer and not basketball), some players excel in practice because they face the comp every day but when you throw a player into the fray of a tough league game vs veteran laden teams, the chances someone is going to feel comfortable and able in 2-4 minute time frames is rare. Those who excel in those situations are usually former starters or seniors who have been through the rote for a few years.
Dan Hurley and staff certainly had the option of playing the back-ups much more vs the cupcakes but decided against it.
Here's the scoop:
Meechie spent two seasons at Ohio State, transferred and spent two seasons at South Carolina, transferred and spent one season at Ohio State, transferred and will spend next season at South Carolina.

Jut looked it up. As of this morning there were 1,729 players who had entered the transfer portal. An average of 4.75 for each of the 364 teams in Division 1. Insanity. How many players are in the portal now? It has to be close to 1500. That's an average of 4 players per team. Which seems kind of nuts.

Find it odd how people seem so ready for Ross to enter portal.
Have you played BB? Do you know something we don't about "the scouts"? Tools are good if someone gets enough burn. How do you perform instantly in 5 min or so. Come on give it a break. If he comes back that will show you his character and that Hurley still see something. In him.I don’t know what you aren’t understanding here though. Yes, played all my life and still play.Have you played BB? Do you know something we don't about "the scouts"? Tools are good if someone gets enough burn. How do you perform instantly in 5 min or so. Find it odd how people seem so ready for Ross to enter portal. He is familiar with the system, Hurley said he works hard and probably deserved more time and genuinely seems like a good kid. I don’t expect him to be a starter but I think he could help the team. Not like there are a bunch in portal clamoring to play sparingly for UConn. I'm rooting for Ross to stay and contribute however he can.

Ok, that's how you determine if someone has played or not because I seem to think otherwise? Very good insight you have. NOTHe’s been with these coaches every day for 2 years.
This is utterly insane, still.
The kid has tools, most high D1 commits do. You seem like the one who’s never played or coached. I got yanked around By coaches in my day, and end of the day it was on me. If I made all the plays, they’d have played me. Coach Hurley is BEGGING the kid to take the steps.
Man saying something in a press conference and giving a kid 3 minutes is not begging him to do anything. He’s been with these coaches every day for 2 years.

It's easy to envision Ross making a Samson Johnson like leap in year 3 and 4. The talent is there. Hope he stays.
