Transfer Portal Starting to Load

We don’t need any big portal additions until after we can get those 2026 championship futures bets in

UNC has been wasting talent that goes there since Vince
They wasted talent long before Vince.

Some of Dean's squads, starting in the late 1960's put more players in the NBA than anyone yet Dean won only two titles and each took a monumental end of game blunder to secure the win.

An old joke:

Q - Who's the only person who can stop Michael Jordan?

A - Dean Smith.

I mean moreso developing players to be impactful at the next level.

All their titles under Contract Roy came when their 5*s that should’ve been in the NBA after 2 years ended up being there for 3-4. Lol

Then they don’t do much of anything there. I don’t know why anyone with big NBA aspirations would go there.

Former Five star Ian Jackson (UNC) from NYC in the portal.

Any UConn interest here? Didn't exactly pan out in his freshman year but he showed flashes and Carolina has coaching issues that could have hindered him.

I feel like he has Pitino and St. John's written all over him...
Love a NYC kid at St Johns. Hate the idea of him playing for Pitino

You can’t recruit over these freshmen.. they need to be in the rotation or your going to lose them…I think we need to bring in a 3rd string pg and a 3rd string center who can also play pf … that’s assuming AK and Ross come back

It’s going to be like this every year now. Hurley has to find out who has Solo type talent and play them enough to contribute and then keep them for year 2. And then year 3.
I just found it strange that Abraham had less talent than Ross, but I never saw him much.

Any chance that Singare changes mind and returns?

Not a good fit here, but I liked this guy’s game. Was at Villanova for a few years

His name is Eric Reibe....

I know his name do you think you needed to tell me? He’s going to be a nice piece and I know “he’s a big kid, McD AA….” and we still need another 5 for some minutes. Singare probably would’ve been fine but now we need another. If you think he’s the immediate answer for backing up a guy who gets in foul trouble, guess again. He will also be in foul trouble then we will have 6’6 guys playing the 5. There are needs the freshman need to ease their way in, minus Mullins. Reibe will be a real nice 4 at times, 5 at times guy but not 5 only behind Reed, asking for trouble.

He was in so much better shape at KState different looking player but there’s no chance he can play PG which is still a need.

Backup pgs are going to be hard to find, might have to look at the MM level to find someone that would accept the role, but there are a lot of options.
Are they hard to find, or are there a lot of options?

I don't get allocating NIL funds to a player that had ACL surgery in March but I guess they really believe he's gonna be available to play next season. ACL recoveries/rehab are trending longer for basketball players the past few years and if you're a parent why would you rush someone back that young and projected lottery?

They just added the Alabama forward, too... Pope brings in lots of pieces. Will be interesting to see how it all meshes.
If this last year was any sign, he'll figure it out. He made lemonade out of a pack of late stage portalers last year, and got them to buy in and love playing for him. They were simply limited and always injured.

Pope will be one to watch out for. He missed on some early portal adds but has made up for it in the last week.

I don’t think he’d have anything against a Big East transfer, but I don’t think that’s even relevant for a guy who wasn’t even good enough to play at Seton Hall.
Not relevant at all - always interesting to see what BE kids go portaling, I almost assume all SH kids do.
