Are we going to track most of the 2000 or so players who will enter the portal in this thread or only ones UConn shows interest in or ones we think UConn should show interest in? Because if you want us to post all the players who enter the portal then this is going to be one long thread.

I’d say only those players that look of interest to UConn or are generally interesting, directionally speaking as to this lovely colllaboration.

It’s probably good to have somewhere to talk about random entrants of interest to posters. Every name would be overkill.

I remember last year and the year before there was some kind of interest on here for almost every player who entered the portal. If the guy had a pulse and scored more than 10 ppg there was at least someone on here who wanted UConn to take him. I wish I could say I was exaggerating.

Oh I know. It was basically hoarding it all.

I'd love to see an article on who were the biggest 2024-25 surprise portal transfers, ones who lived up to their projections and who were complete busts.

Kansas' AJ Storr, despite his outstanding last name, fits the latter category.

I imagine it's quite a challenge figuring out which portal players will fit your system & culture and put up the #s you envision, who you think you have a good shot at landing for a reasonable portal price.

We all know UConn needs at least 1 big combo/point guard. I'd like to see them land a long physical athletic wing who can attack the basket and defend.

Whatever else depends on who sticks around and who decides to leave.

This whole portal mess has to be a nightmare for most coaches who are trying to construct a balanced roster but really don't know who's staying and who's leaving.

Last year Hurley had a good idea about this. Not wanting to go down the Mahaney rabbit hole, but he clearly didn't turn out to be the Big East physical level PG he had hoped. Reed Jr, albeit inconsistent, has been a solid get in the Sanogo mold. And somehow our collective perimeter players have really struggled to defend and attack the basket, though have improved some lately. I'm not sure any of the incoming freshmen look like plus athletes and lock down defeners, so adding at least one would seem to be a good idea.

Not only that we should take them, but that we just had to offer an get any of them. "We should just get player X."
