Maybe - question is whether they’re willing to come off the bench. We need to put sure fire starting talent around Mullins first. So you don't think stew and Ross as upperclassmen qualify as insurance? Both would get PT at the 3.
Disagree. He has a few reasons to return. My bones say Alex isn’t coming back. He probably has zero to gain by coming back as his tape is out and he’s a year older, other than NIL that trumps what he’s getting on a 2 2 way.
You nailed it with Mullins. Have to believe he will be a significant part of the rotation but at least not a starter for day 1, unless he is that good. Frankly, I am anxious to simply watch all 3 in the McDonald's game just to see them play and move. You don't learn much from those games beyond just getting a sense of quickness and shooting form.Mullins if not a starter would still be a significant part of the rotation. I wouldn’t want to be in any position where we are reliant on a freshman without having sufficient insurance in place. We learned that this year with Liam.
350 names in the portal.
I think it's 50/50 only because of NIL. He may be able to make much more going the NIL route than a 2nd round draft pick. If that's the case, he really can't hurt himself much more as he would have already played himself out of the 1st round this year.My bones say Alex isn’t coming back. He probably has zero to gain by coming back as his tape is out and he’s a year older, other than NIL that trumps what he’s getting on a 2 2 way.
And idk what the odds of bringing in 3 transfer starters is, so if both Liam and AK leave then I think Mullins would start alongside Ball.
I would guess Ball will get stronger. I think Adams may take a year to get up to speed strength-wise, but his height would certainly be a help. Agree that we need another transfer, but I can get behind a 6'3 or 6'4 200 lbs guard who is quick (so can the rest of the country...LOL).Our 2/3 being 6'3 185 and 6'5 190 is not ideal. We would need a huge PG pick up for the defensive end.
One of the biggest names so far. We offered him in 2021, FWIW.

I mean, maybe:Not Zero to gain by coming back.
1. A 3rd ring.
2. He loves it here.
3. Way more fun being the big dog again than a 2 way.
4. And, as many claim, you included, he can earn more in college if he's not guaranteed.
5. Possibly, very possibly a better draft stock. The tape is out doesn't mean he is done growing as a player.
That is not zero

And a starting PF or is that stew? My comment was based on hoping to pull 2 starters out of the portal. Pg and PFIt doesn't. A more traditional PG and a swing in the portal, with Mullins as a 6th-man would get the job done fine.
He had a few decent games at IU not a great team playerWe recruited Mgbako a bit out of HS. Would be a decent AK replacement. Not sure about his shooting and passing--never seen him play. But the other #s look nice.
I think the key with the portal, especially when looking at other high majors, is understanding the kid that if put in the right system, is untapped. I'd start with the right physical profile, then probe. What I wouldn't do is what we did with Mahaney and start with the wrong physical profile, and think we could turn that into a wizard. He had a few decent games at IU not a great team player
I think we saw a few glimpses of it, but I expect Solo to get a fair amount of run at PG next year. Has he shown it? No, but his passing and ball handling got much better as the season went on. He's not an NBA SG. Just doesn't have the size. His path is as a scoring PG (defense must improve). People scoffed at me when I said Tyrese Martin would come back as a guard his senior year, but he did. Solo can work his butt off and become a PG.Our 2/3 being 6'3 185 and 6'5 190 is not ideal. There are plenty of 6'3 SGs in the nba eg donovan mitchell, Cam thomas, eric gordon, jared mccain, Anfernee Simons etc, , It's more important that Ball become a better defender than a PGI think we saw a few glimpses of it, but I expect Solo to get a fair amount of run at PG next year. That allows us to (a) still bring in a bigger PG (b) split time between Solo and Mullins at SG and (c) bring in a wing with size to play the 3.
I see a whole bunch of speculation despite the rule against it, but it seems clear that some players who have eligibility won't be back.
2 straight rings and just took #1 seed to the brink. Yeah that guy stinks!
Personality wise I don’t think he would be a great fit imoWe recruited Mgbako a bit out of HS. Would be a decent AK replacement. Not sure about his shooting and passing--never seen him play. But the other #s look nice.
