Maybe. My theory was we moved off Meleek when he priced himself out. Didnt we goto visit Acaden after the white house? I dont think we could get to his magic number,. Just like we never went in for the top 10 types because of nil. I'm afraid what those same programs are offering our existing players. Idk if we have the money to match.I dont think thats the case. It was more timing
Kid averaged 8 FTA per game. That's ridiculous. And it's something we were sorely lacking this yearPass. Horrible defensive metrics while playing in one of the worst conferences in the country.
Short term, sure. That’s my point.
Didnt we just sign 3 5 star recruits? How many should we be signing?
It begins. Will Hurley do his usual and only look at a small group, or will he entertain a wider net?
Darius Adams, Braylon Mullins, Eric ReibeWho were the three 5 star recruits that we signed?
And the numbers suggest he’s a really bad defender, he’s not playing if he can’t defend at this level. Against top 100 comp he wasn’t doing that, barely cracking 100 OTR in those games and getting to the line half as much in those games. It’s a huge jump from MEAC. They will have other options, this would not be the type of player to target.Kid averaged 8 FTA per game. That's ridiculous. And it's something we were sorely lacking this year
We took Mullins over Meleek that is a factbecause of their Nil ask?
If You are saying we prioritized Darius as a guard over Meleek or Acaden, I just think you are wearing rose colored glasses
Learn lessons from the roster construction this season. Prioritize Hasan and big guards who can handle the ball, play and create!I know nothing about any of these guys, but I want all of them. Treysen Eaglestaff, Jamichael Stillwell, and Hasan Abdul Hakim! Can you even fathom just how much name butchering potential is here?
On the "who could portal for us" question, look at the returning roster, think for 4 seconds, and go math-ing. Think it would be pretty obvious.
He was a freshman. He's a 6'8 guard who can get his own shot. He can improve defensively. He has NBA ingredients. You take him 10/10 and figure the rest out. We may need 3 starters and bench help. There is still room for "defenders"Pass. Horrible defensive metrics while playing in one of the worst conferences in the country.

Keep an eye on this one.A guy I know Hurley and crew recruited, I think would be an excellent fit at the 4 Taylor Bol Bowen is in the portal 6’10 athlete went for 8ppg 5.2 rpg 1.5 blocks while shooting 41.4% from 3pt on 70 attempts.

Again, says you. Any elite basketball player has the right to choose where, why, and how much. We as fans don’t know the answers to any of that so who are we to say it’s nearsighted.
he'll finish his college career with what, $3 million in the bank? Unless he's a moron (he isn't ) that's enough to set him up for life. Yes he'll have to work, but he won't have to worry about money.
When I was his age I was searching couch cushions for change so I could supersize my McDonald's order.
Me likely. Kid has to get stronger thoKeep an eye on this one.
They’ll be doing digging on a ton of guys. I’m skeptical of a player at that level making the jump to being ready to burst onto the scene in a starting role for a team like UConn. I’m happy to be wrong, maybe he really is that good. And defensively it’s more scheme dependent/showing his warts but surrounding him with better players & scheme can improve it. Putting on quick tape, he’s not very athletic, but looks like he can get to his spots. Seeing different info on if he’s 6-5 or 6-8, doesn’t quite appear that big.Contextualizing the defense will matter here. Is it an IQ thing? Is he not athletic enough? How was the team's defense overall?
Metrics only tell a piece of the puzzle. He could be absolutely awful on defense or have a ton of potential. He has the size... I'm sure the staff will be doing some digging.
No offense to you but his earning potential is probably a lot higher than yours was. And he’s not making an “either I stay at UConn and get nothing or go somewhere else and get money” decision.
The second part of your post is true for most. Not me though. What intrigues me about this kid is his age, size, and skillset. He doesnt have to be a starter for us next year. We need a lot more than just starters. At the moment we are relying on a lot of unproven kids to man our bench. We need depth a the wing and guard positions. They’ll be doing digging on a ton of guys. The reality is, we’ll see 1000+ kids hit the portal and each time stats jump out, people will say: this is the guy. You want a roster that compliments one another, that’s the goal. I’d be having sights on a wing from a bigger conference who has more athleticism and proven metrics as a plus defender. Obviously they’re looking for someone who can do it all: create off the bounce, handle it, defend, rebound. Not easy to find but they can find someone who fits that mold & surrounding them with better players can get the most of that guy.
