It's myopic. It says that another staff cannot develop, it says that money shouldn't matter.
All years are not equal. They have more time this year, they fell short in portal last year. I'm not questioning how he did in the past, I'm wondering if given the needs and misses that they explore a wider net. It's ok to question yeah know, without getting all defensive.
Right. Because you know where some of these kids come from and what they had growing up. To some, 1.5-2 million dollars does changes lives, not just for them. You could say it’s myopic to think a million bucks is life changing for a kid with 20 years of professional life and 60 years of real life ahead of him.

The myopic is addressing the mindset that you should stick around UConn for less money & the development from Moore. I'm 100% with you on this - a kid needs to do what is best for them, even if it's outside of Uconn. You could say it’s myopic to think a million bucks is life changing for a kid with 20 years of professional life and 60 years of real life ahead of him.

1 million bucks is life-changing for anybody without 1 million bucks.
Again, says you. Any elite basketball player has the right to choose where, why, and how much. We as fans don’t know the answers to any of that so who are we to say it’s nearsighted.I know where the kid we’re talking about comes from.
Again, these responses are pretty much doubling down on myopia.
We got money... not SEC moneyI have a strong suspicion (and just received a little insight) that the portal may not be very good to us this year.
Our pockets aren't deep enough.
Can he guard a chair?Well UConn did recruit Sanon out of high school and Hurley will get all the information he needs to evaluate Sanon from his brother.
Only downside? The Boneyard would butcher his name.![]()
That is a massive distinction. We got money... not SEC money
I keep hearing that. What does that mean? We got money relative to who? In the end, does it matter how much we have when a sec or big 12 school can go 2x on a kid we want?We got money... not SEC money
Well then we need to do everything we can to beg claw or steal our way into a P4.We got money... not SEC money
Good thing is we have Hurley who can get the most out of guys. Just go through and look at the top portal guys last year, a lot of them weren’t even that good or worth the price they got. Hope is UConn gets one stud & finds quality that isn’t necessarily “top transfer” type players. I believe in the staff and their ability to do that. Does really speak to the urgency of getting into a power conference & hopefully that day comes soon. The whole structure of college athletics is silly right now, no other pro sports leagues operate in this manner. But we have to do what we have to do in order to compete.I have a strong suspicion (and just received a little insight) that the portal may not be very good to us this year.

If the people you are competing with have more than you, things aren't equal and in 99% of the cases you will lose.I keep hearing that. What does that mean? We got money relative to who? In the end, does it matter how much we have when a sec or big 12 school can go 2x on a kid we want?

I have felt this since we missed on both Meleek and Acaden. The $ is crazy now, & without being in another conference for a TV contract, our recruiting allure won't ever match the football teams for tip top talent. Hence the SEC dominating the sweet 16. Inconvenient RealityI have a strong suspicion (and just received a little insight) that the portal may not be very good to us this year.

Didnt we just sign 3 5 star recruits? How many should we be signing?I have felt this since we missed on both Meleek and Acaden. We didn't miss on them. We prioritized other kids.I have felt this since we missed on both Meleek and Acaden. There will be some who are patient, but I don't blame any player who wants more minutes. Remember that for some of them, they're only playing basketball for a few more years of their life. If they want to chase playing time, that's a totally understandable decision.I continue to say freshman who were meant to be good players never bided their time.
I’m not even talking about the successful NBA guys either. Players like Rashad Anderson, Dehnam Brown, Jeff Adrien played often as freshmen.
Guys who are expected to eventually be big time contributors biding their time so consistently is new for this program to this era.
because of their Nil ask?We didn't miss on them. We prioritized other kids.
