hmm, possibly undersized PG who loves to be a hound on the ball defender... I hope he's a hoops fan and likes watching the tournament from an unbiased stance, because I can think of 2 recent national champions that were spearheaded by a barely 6' pesky defender

Not saying he will be kemba or shabazz 2.0, but I think these similarities are what might make him really like the idea of coming to UConn, and we would really like that. If he works out, great, if not, they'll find some way to get him to transfer to QU after 2 years

He's not a mid-major player. He's a 4-star recruit getting looked at by P5 schools. Odds are that JA will be the Kemba/Bazz/Boat of his time on campus, but Carter isn't a scrub.

When he visits he'll most likely jam with Boat etc
and his quicks will be self evident.

I'm not trying to single anyone out but sometimes people have way too lofty of expectations for these recruits. Others have said it perfectly, Carter would be a perfect compliment to Adams. Play 10-15 minutes and allow Adams/TSam to play off ball bc TSam isn't a natural PG. But to say Carter is going to come here and start? Not a chance. Purvis is a good player. Don't know how many times it needs to be said but averaging 10 points a game on 43% shooting isnt bad. Its not his fault people hyped him up like they did. Also, same goes for Enoch. Many believe he will come in and instantly be ready to provide. Maybe...maybe not. Facey was New York player of the year and 4 star top 100 recruit as well. His freshman year (obviously played behind DD and co.) but still when he got minutes it was obvious how raw he was. Let it play out. Stop the lofty expectations. I expect us to be very good next year if we can get Carter bc he fits our system, but don't jump the gun.

If Kentsucky could convince recruits to commit knowing they would play 20 minutes coming off the bench, why couldn't we?

They didn't. Four guys came back that they figured were gone when they recruited (Harrison, Harrison, WCS, Poythress). The platoon thing was a total accident.

Last year, their entire bench on the perimeter in the title game was Dominique Hawkins (0 points in 7 minutes). Brandon Knight played 40 minutes against us in 2011 (and Perry Jones played 38, I think). We were deeper than them both times.

Agree.
It is like some lessons we never learn. Shades of the "too much talent in the guard spot" From last summer.

I'd definitely take a shot on the kid. Again, I don't see him getting much PT next year, but he'll certainly get some if he can prove he can run the offense and value the ball.

Not sure what exactly the scholly situation is, but I think our main focus should be getting a shooter. Someone who can consistently bury 3's to spread out a zone, and who can knock down FT's consistently. Not sure if there is a player left like that in this class.

We currently have one scholarship open, but that could become two if Amilo is moved back to walk-on status.

He would be if UConn can find someone else better. Scholarships are only year to year anyway but that's even more true for former walkons.

UConn has gotten 3 crystal ball picks in the last 24 hours. Corey Evans with the latest one. I like seeing both he and Jerry Meyer picking us, even with the obvious imperfection that is the crystal ball.

Any talk about him in the last few days @3uconn ?

If he can dribble effectively, break a press, and have a decent jumper we better sign him up. He probably knows no one on this team can handle the ball and run an offense.

Pitino said he reminds him of Russ Smith - seems like a lofty expectation. However in that video he does finish with his left and dribbles with both hands. Despite this, his jumper looks awkward.

Just picked up another one. 4 since yesterday, and 5 since last week. Ville seems out of the picture.

I see him getting a lot of playing time if he can defend. TSam's minutes would probably get cut and that would be a good thing. As far as 3 pt shooting is concerned adding a guard who has to be defended should open up 3 pt opportunities and also create more opportunities in the paint. We had a backcourt like that last season and it changes everything.

The last thing we need is a guy with a shaky jumper, assuming that's accurate.

He seems to have a very "TSam-like" jump shot, which I dont think is a good thing. Regardless I hope we get him, or anyone that can play this late in the game.

His shot has a little bit of a hitch, but he supposedly makes a good percentage of them still. Looks as good as Purvis' and his shooting percentage is fine. I think his ball handling and pestering defense are more than enough for him to be of help here. And he's a 4 year guy.

Even if he's the next Austrie I'll take him. Chances are he's a good deal better.
