Personally, Im not that impressed with Traci Carter. I may be in the minority but I don't see him stepping in and being better than anyone of our guards this year aftter the productive summer they should have after being exposed.

This maybe unpopular but I really like what we have from a guard standpoint from next year. The kids know what they need to work on, I know Ollie lets them know religously and some will come back improved some won't but will come with a higher basketball IQ. If tracey does commit no chance he plays over T Sam in my eyes and if he does I would have a ton of questions for our player development department.

Like your optimism re: our guards. But, you assume that they will become better and smarter players next year. Maybe yes and maybe no. Maybe some, but probably not all. There is no magic process to improve one's BB IQ. Some players have it on day one (KEA), some develop it over time and some never will. Unfortunately, I think we have some of the latter on the team and not sure they will come back after the summer with a solid BB IQ. Maybe a little higher, but not at the level we are used to.

If we can get a good PG that has that IQ, we should sign him up.

Just as I was having visions of Carter and Adams starting in the back court like Bazz and Boat, you tell me Patino and Ollie can't judge talent.

Bad argument since Pitino saw him and didn't offer. However kid had a bad game that day. He also had a summer injury that prevented him from playing and probably delayed his development before that game.

Point is there is no way to know for sure what he would do at UConn if he accepts the offer.

I like what Carter brings to the table and we certainly could use another recruit for 2015, I also like all the offers Ollie has made towards the 2016 class go big or go home.

Why did Patino invite him for a visit if he wasn't going to offer him?
. Must have a lot of excess time on his hands.

Because he doesn't want to burn a bridge with a team or coach. He was being nice. I'm sure Louisville considered offering him, but the fact is they went a different direction after evaluation. If Kevin Ollie offered him a scholly, he is good enough for me. We have watched a couple youtube videos. I think KO knows a little more about him than that.

If his coach is Pervis Ellison, of course Louisville is bringing him down.

If Carter accepts KO's offer to join the same recruiting class as Jalen, it would mean either he believes he'll play over Jalen or he'll learn so much at UConn that he'll make the NBA from inside his shadow. Either would show character to me.

Start at point. Jalen starts at 2.

There's playing time for him. We need a second ballhandler/point guard even if he doesn't start, so he'll play sizeable minutes as a frosh. If Jalen is as good as we think, Jalen may leave early. I don't think he has to worry about minutes. Starting is a matter of developing as a player, which is undoubtedly his goal, and he'll get the coaching to do it.

Or it means that he has at least a passing familiarity with UConn's history of playing multiple ballhandling guards together.

We've had 4-5 star recruits come in to play 20 minutes a game or less as a role player in the past (Charlie V, Marcus Williams, AJ Price, Kemba Walker, Shabazz Napier, Deandre Daniels just as examples recently). With this lineup, if you're talented, starting is definitely on the table. We need to stop using the playing time card.

How many frosh play more than 20 minutes a game. If Traci believes he can play at a high level and has the talent, UConn is a great situation for him. He just has to look at the results of our last three 6' (or shorter) point guards.

Let's see them earn it before we pencil it in. I have no doubt they will play early and often, but Ollie will put them through the ringer in practice to make sure they deserve it.

I would bet that Jalen expects to play PG as that will be his position at the next level. In no way do we want to alienate our next "great one." Traci can be the "complimentary PG" or something.

Ollie will figure out the rotation. If the team is better with Adams at point he will run point. If we are better Adams at the 2 and Traci at the point I'm sure that's what Ollie will do. I wouldn't worry about alienating Adams 6 months before he even steps foot on campus. One way or another Adams will get his playing time.

If Kentsucky could convince recruits to commit knowing they would play 20 minutes coming off the bench, why couldn't we?

Once they are here (if Traci comes), then the best man plays. Until then, Jalen needs to know he is our #1 guy, IMHO.

Why is everybody having such issues that these guys can't play in the same backcourt together. I'm sure Traci will come off the bench at the beginning of the year. JA definitely can play off the ball more as he seems to fit a taller RB mode anyhow. I think this could be a perfect backcourt for UCONN with TSAM coming off the bench.

I think KO should ask Geno if Mo Jefferson can transfer to the men's team.

I think Brimah is a 4 year guy and D-Ham a 3 year guy. If we have a sophomore Jalen, Traci Carter and Enoch, junior D-Ham, senior Brimah, Purvis, and Facey, that team is GOOD. I'm salivating thinking about it. Maybe a freshman Mario Kegler? With senior T-Sam, that team is deep in the front court and backcourt and on the wings. Obiously I'm hoping D-Ham is a 2-year lottery pick because that means he will have had a monster year next year. As long as we get Kegler, I'm fine with that. Traci Carter would be a huge pickup when it comes to backcourt depth. There is no reason we shouldn't put a lot of effort into locking him up.

hmm, possibly undersized PG who loves to be a hound on the ball defender... I hope he's a hoops fan and likes watching the tournament from an unbiased stance, because I can think of 2 recent national champions that were spearheaded by a barely 6' pesky defender

Not saying he will be kemba or shabazz 2.0, but I think these similarities are what might make him really like the idea of coming to UConn, and we would really like that. If he works out, great, if not, they'll find some way to get him to transfer to QU after 2 years
