Actually Caitlin like Paige is a PG but she does not require any encouragement to score while still averaging 7.1 assists per game, 2nd in the nation. Paige is 8th in Nat. at 6.5 assists per game. Although Paige is more efficient with an A/T ratio of 2.65 (20 in Nat.) versus Caitlin's 1.4 (185 in Nat.).
An afterthought: is Paige actually UCONN's PG or does Nika now play the PG position. If anyone says "Well Nika brings the ball up but Paige is the PG," then perhaps Iowa has a similar situation with Caitlin. Didn't Geno say Nika at the PG frees Paige to better get into the flow of offense as the shooting/off guard?
And the answer is: today's game is positionless which explains why these lists are confusing for some of us. It does allow the selectors to put players on any list they please. Or they just are being nice by placing Caitlin on the shooting guard list because she would get buried by Paige at the PG and she deserves an opportunity to win one of these awards?
