I agree Bueckers is the favorite.

Questionable list overall. Where is Destanni Henderson?

Surprised no inclusion of Caitlin Clark or Destanni Henderson, both of whom are having far better seasons than most on this list.

Dana Evans, Ashley Owusu, and Aari McDonald are all on the shooting guard list for those wondering.
Did they release the top 10?

These lists are a joke honestly....

yes...

Evans (Louisville)
Henderson (South Carolina)
McDonald (Arizona)
Clark (Iowa)
Hayes (MTSU)
Burton (Northwestern)

And absolute no disrespect to Diamond Johnson but Rutgers has played how many games??

These lists are a joke if those players as classified as SG. PG is arguably the only position where you can clearly tell if someone is a PG or not, yet they somehow classify these 3 as shooting guards when they are clearly PGs.

It not a joke actually well thought out down selection. They are not sudenly going to add people to the list.
Here are the names from the preseason list. This is also WBCA controlled meaning that it's up to the coach to nominate a player for these awards if they feel strongly enough.

This is a WBCA award coaches get to nominate their players for these awards.

And van Lith on the point guard list. You gotta wonder whether the folks who make up the lists pay any attention to WBB.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.

The folks that make up the list and get to nominate players are WBCA coaches they pay attention.
Regardless of how much attention they pay --- I've seen every minute that Van Lith has played. She is in no way a point guard this season. She will likely be the PG next season when Evans is gone. The Louisville offense runs through Evans. She initiates it and the ball is in her hands almost all the time at the end of possessions, especially in close games.

DUH..................This kid could be the best ever. How about calling her a female Pistol Pete Maravich....Point guard Royalty...I have never seen a young lady with such attributes. Go Paige...Go girls!

There has been a lot of misinformation within the last couple of post regarding how the WBCA positions work.
Here are the facts: WBCA sponsors (5) position awards 1) Nancy Lieberman Point Guard Award 2) Ann Meyers Drysdale Shooting Guard Award 3) Cheryl Miller Small Forward Award 4) Katrina McClain Power Forward Award and 5) Lisa Leslie Center Award.
At the beginning of the season a watch list of 20 players is created by nominations from the coaches. A player CANNOT appear on more than 1 watch list at a time. Through the season the list is narrowed down first 10 then to 5 ? before a winner for each award is selected. Very unlikely that a player plays their way on to the list but it does happen. The key to nominations are the coaches advocating for their players-not fan, not the press, not some AD-Just Coaches. An example of good advocacy is Kim Mulkey this season. When Kim realized that Didi Richards was going to be her starting PG she petitioned for Didi to be added to the Liberman watch list and Kim was successful. Now You know and I know that Didi is not a PG but that not the point. The point is to win one of these awards you need your coach to first nominate you and then advocate by getting some other coaches to vote for you. Yes you read that correctly-Not only do coaches nominate the COACHES ALSO VOTE on these awards.

Please read my last post and then go take it up with Jeff. Jeff or someone close to him chose to put Dana Evans on the SG list and Hailey on the PG list-COACHES NOMINATE and VOTE.

Thanks Coco for describing the nomination process. Here are some stats for the top 10. Buekers' numbers look pretty good

Henderson and SC is only after one goal! Besides the Dawn Staley Award is the only one that matters to her!

Yes! Paige is indeed on track to win this award.

Clark will likely show up on the Drysdale list, which I would agree with. She has little chance of winning the Lieberman award with a Assist/TO ratio of 1.25. I honestly think she is more of shooting guard than PG. She has a lot of assists, but that doesn't mean she is a true PG. Iowa normally shoots the ball after only 1 or 2 passes, not that its a negative, just an observation.

I do think Destanni Henderson should be there instead of Didi Richards. High assist don't always mean facilitator of offense.
