Sure, but you always want the best odds to win possible to go deep. Teams get knocked out, things happen the deeper you get. This Uconn team isn't 2024 UConn, matchups matter.

Point is there is a distinct difference in quality this year between what will likely be the 3 and 4 seeds. It's been generally noted that there are about 12 teams this year that could make a run to the NC. I'd rather not play an extra one of those on the way in if we don't have to. Houston could lose to one of them.

It’s a legit point but I’d take a matchup with Florida or Kansas again over Houston in Houston. I think that’s a horrible matchup for us unlike the other two, and I’d hope that we wouldn’t be effectively punished for being a 1 seed.

Have a look at Houston's OOC. It's B12 sched so far isn't that great either.

But voters are giving teams with 4 and 5 losses credit over us.

Illinois, Kansas even St. John's

I think we should want the best matchups possible before we get to the Elite 8. We have to get there first.

Not in the slightest. If you break down each argument associated with how polls are determined, schedules, players on the team, conferences, etc, it all comes down to money.

Too many people take a comment at face value and don't take a couple of moments to analyze what is said to see the deeper context of a comment.

But I guess that is the norm for the internet nowadays.

We have limited mobility in these polls because of the BE maybe getting 3 teams in but the last couple weeks we don’t look that great. Hurley admitted as much.

Yeah this is how I see it, maybe Arizona at 3 and Duke at 4. And then Iowa State likely at 6, and I think those six teams form a pretty clear top rung. After that… maybe Florida all the way up at 7? And then take your pick of the other four B1G teams.

Arizona falls from 1 with 2 losses and likely moves to 5 at 23-2.

Guesses really, since so many lost swings could be big when their W-L is up there. St. Louis and Miami OH have not played a ranked team all year. I think Miami of Ohio's SOS is like 300+ so predictive metrics go out the window if they play a top 5 defensive team. But for rankings theatre each Monday it makes for fun chat.

Hmmm. I don't think we jump AZ. They'll go to 4.

AZ, Uconn, Iowa St, Purdue, Florida, Nebraska, Gonzaga

Va in the top Ten would be hysterical. UF is back to being seen as a top 5-7 team in the country. I think Texas Tech, Kansas and maybe even Arkansas are good enough to be considered over a couple of those teams.

I mean I know Zona beat us (barely) but they lost twice. That shud at least be a 4-5 spot drop. I say they fall to 4 and we jump to 4. If we lost twice, we would fall out the top 10 for sure

Seems like we are destined at this point to be the 1 or 2 seed in the South (Houston) Regional with Houston as the 2 or 1 seed. Unless Duke loses a couple they seem to be destined for the 1 in the East.
 
Based on how good teams are playing right NOW, St. John’s is a top 10 team, as much as it pains me to say it. Now the polls don’t work that way.

I could see us slipping to 2 in the East as well. CBS just revealed their brackets during halftime of the Illinois game and they have us as the 2 in the West with AZ..........

Stuffing us in the West, as we are clearly the best 2 seed, would mean they now have Arizona as the last 1? That would be quite the FU, but the West has always worked for us.
