Where do you think we’ll be after #3, #4, and #5 lost yesterday?

I'm thinking 4 or 5. Leaning 4 but won't be shocked if it is 5. Anything lower seems absurd to me. People are making a big deal about UH beating BYU by double digits, but that was BYU's 4th straight loss. Iowa State had a sizeable advantage late in the game but ended up barely beating a Baylor team that really hasn't been that good this year.I think we drop to 5.
True. I feel like there were a lot out there questioning how good we are after that month of malaise, then we had a couple games that reversed it a little. Getting outmuscled in prime time might affirm the doubters.I think a worse ranking than we hope for will be better for our mental state and the teams performance in the long run. We both would rather have some roadblock to overcome and something to prove.
Defending #2 wasnt healthy for the yard
The perception of the BE is really poor on a national level.I think #7 or #8 would be about where belong. St John's is not a very good team, but upsets do happen. Also, the strength (or lack of strength) of the Big East Conference as a whole will result in UConn dropping down more in the rankings which is fair.
St. John's is currently ranked at 22.Of 3, 4, 5, 6 all losing in the week we have:
3: UConn loses by 9 at unranked St. John's who will surely rank this week
4: Duke loses by 3 at #14 UNC
5: Illinois loses in OT by 3 at #10 Michigan St
6: Gonzaga loses by 7 at unranked Portland who is nowhere close to being ranked.
Ranking the losses by best to worst:
5, 4, 3, 6
Now due to 7 Iowa State and 8 Houston winning it could reshuffle to:
1. Arizona
2. Michigan
3. Duke
4. Iowa St
5. UConn
6. Houston
7. Illinois
8. Michigan St
9. Gonzaga
10. Kansas
St John’s is not a very good team? Please define what a good team is in your mind.I think #7 or #8 would be about where belong. St John's is not a very good team, but upsets do happen. Also, the strength (or lack of strength) of the Big East Conference as a whole will result in UConn dropping down more in the rankings which is fair.
6 or 7
Why do you keep repeating yourself? After saying you don’t care what people thinkWe aren’t playing that well over the last 10 games. I’m not sure why people have a problem admitting it. Tarris is not the player we needed him to be yet and Solo is too inconsistent. Any voter that’s been paying attention is completely justified in thinking we are over-ranked. We played our best ball early on. We need to get back to it.
It is also entirely possible that the Big East just knows how to play against us and the refs allow it. We’ve seen it before. If that’s the real issue, once again we’ll look a lot better in the NCAA’s. That’s ok with me, I wouldn't mind entering the tourney a little underrated.
Ranking doesn’t mean much, you’re right. Getting this team ready to play teams that will have more physical talent will be. No one is going to convince me that UConn has more talent than most of the top 6-8 teams. We have a first round shooter, who isn't on ball and can't just take over. We have a second round role player who is similar. We saw what this squad looked like against a physical StJ squad. This isn't 2023 that could outrun teams, or 2024 that could bully down teams. This team is something very different. It's last year with Silas. Silas is a big upgrade, but he alone doesn't really change the make up of this team that much. Our bench is moderately effective. We are going to have to do what we did against Florida last year a few times, while hitting shots. I’m excited to see what Hurley can spin this tournament because they’re certainly not going to boat race anyone, or our talent anyone. This will have to be about out executing. At this point in the season idc. We have bigger goals and fish to fry
