The Official 2025 New York Yankees Thread

Once again, the Bird ain't the word.
Grabbing guys off of dumpster fire teams with zero pressure is always a crapshoot regardless of their numbers. The expectations and pressure go from 0 to 100x the second you slip on the pinstripes. Some of these guys are just not handling it well. I can’t wait to see Devin Williams in different jersey next season. He’s a bigger disappointment than Aiden Mahaney.

I read an article about 6 months ago about an older minor league player in the Yankees system traded to another team and came out and said in the minors almost NO FUNDAMENTALS are taught, everything is analytics!
The organization sold their souls to the the analytical/computer people several years ago!
Then when rookies come up their knowledge of what to do in certain situations is not practiced and known!
The crappy play recently wouldn't have happened under Joe Torre! Players would have been benched or sent down!
Hal doesn't want to fire Boone and/or Cashman because then he would have to go through the process of hiring a new GM and Manager!
Heads would be rolling if George were alive! (Rest his soul)

Question for the fans that go to games. My brother-in-law and 9 year old nephew are coming to NJ from LA this weekend. The 9 year old is a huge Yankee fan so BIL just got 4 tix for Saturday. Old Timers Day which just makes things more crowded, but maybe spreads out the traffic.

I live in Bergen County, NJ not too far from the GWB. I used to go to lots of games and would deal with the traffic across the bridge. But it's been so long and I've only been to the new stadium a few of those times.

Do you guys have a preferred parking location? I've heard that at some of the lots, it can take you an hour to get out (let alone the traffic getting there). I can also take the train to Penn Station and subway to the game. Probably 1.5 hours all in. Happy to hear all recommendations!

At this point in the season, who would have guessed that we'd be saying, "thank God for Trent Grisham".

As an aside, I love Old Timers Day. Loved watching it with my Dad when I was a kid and still love watching our heroes one more time. One of benefits of being a Yankee fan.

Even though I was a Mets fan as a kid, I'd even watch the Yankees Old Timers games in the 60s and early 70s when they were still televised on WPIX. First, because the Mets didn't actually have "Old Timers", but mostly because the Yankees Old Timers were simply an amazing collection of stars that no other team could compete with. I don't think I cared about an old timers game from any team once I got to UConn in '74. Once you start rolling out Horace Clarke and Roy White, it kinda doesn't have the same appeal.

I tuned in to the end of game last night hoping to see Bednar pitch. He didn't. But man, Williams does suck.

One huge reason that the NY Yankees have the best franchise of any MLB team, no matter the present record, is they're the ONLY 1 with an Old Timer's Game!
Think of the Dodgers, Giants, Red Sox, Cubs, etc. that could turn out some amazing players but they don't care enough to make it work!
This years was one of the best in recent years!
I cry through most of it because at 77 it's my youth, memories, just thrills brought back!

Damn Mariano tears his Achilles in the old timers game. He recovered just fine from tearing it at 42 getting 44 saves at age 43.

Now 55 years old recovering from it that's rough, obviously he can take his time in recovery now.

The Twins series is showing up at just the right time. Nothing seems to give the Yankees their confidence back like the sight of the Twins.

No im not doing this, im not playing this game of hope anymore even for a series against the Twins. Twins have confidence I'm sure.

Losing a series against the Twins would undoubtedly put out a tremendous amount of pressure on Hal from the NY media and it needs happen let's be real this clown show needs to be burned to the ground.

Roy White was a very good Yankee consistent as hell, check his stats. He would be a high paid player in this day and age because stats kinda suck in baseball, especially the Yanks.

Damn, you Yankee fans are supersensitive.

Pretty sure that nobody, outside of his family, ever bought a ticket to a Yankee game just to see Roy White. Mantle, DiMaggio, Ford, etc. sure. And those were the guys in the Old Timers games I spoke of.

Well, one benefit of the slump and Judge’s injury is I got 10th row RF seats today for $30 apiece for my first home game of the year.

With the bullpen getting healthy and the schedule getting soft, it’s time for the Yankees to make up ground. After a week away, nice to see a stress-free win last night.

Stanton is on a burner. Hard to understand that this same guy can go through long stretches where he looks like he's never played the game before.

Tonight's broadcast team of Kay, O'neill and Girardi is my favorite of the various combinations. Girardi is really good and he raises Paul's game.

It was fun to be at the stadium on Tuesday night. My seats were in right field in section 106, so sitting in the direct line of Stanton's hit off-the-wall was something to be seen live.

Also, nice to see Volpe starting to get his juice back w/ 2 HR, 7 RBI, 5 R, 3 SB and a .831 OPS since the start of August. Just seems like a more confident kid after a dreadful June and July.

Goldy likely on the DL now, so my guess is Rice will be the primary 1B, Wells/Escarra will split catching starts and then probably bring up someone like Vivas to get a bench role.

Won a series against the Twins whoopty freaking doo. Of course ya couldn't take advantage of the Jays and Sox losing last night. This is the position the Yankees it themselves in, having must sweeps now when given the chance and last night was a golden opportunity and of course they failed so I'm not counting this as a series win.
