The Official 2025 New York Yankees Thread

What da fooq, Yankees? They just kept throwing Clarke out there with forearm tightness!?!?. Fire Cashman!! Unreal!

Boone’s not the problem. He’s just a spokesperson of the higher powers that be. I’d imagine if he’s fired, he’ll be replaced with another spokesperson who supposed to take orders from above.

So needed…

Too little too late I’m afraid even if he’s good. So much more is needed certainly would’ve helped if he was added to Schmidt but with him gone too this team isn’t doing anything this summer added to the fact they can’t hit. Oh I forgot Cashman added Nicky Lopez or something Head bang

Quite the list.

Is the organization to blame for that list? I remember a while back the Mets had a similar list and people alluded the trainers and organizational methodology was contributing to that. The list seems a little long for just "bad luck".

This is the rest of the post pointing to an overall increased focus on velocity and spin rates plus adding the pitch clock and lack of throwing in the offseason. Makes sense IMO.

Interesting. I'm not sure how the pitch clock results in more injuries, but if the numbers lead to that, I guess it's worth exploring.

I do think spin rate and the need for a pitcher to have a hard slider or nasty forkball or a very good changeup is a cause. If you rely on a fastball and mediocre other "stuff", you can't get anyone out anymore. You can't nibble or overpower them. I watched a Mets game this weekend where the reliever came in and threw 7 straight sliders.

I'm not sure Effross can be blamed on the Yankees, but that aside, the track record is not good.

For the life of me I still don't know (especially when considering how innings focused the organization has been under Cashman) why they didn't remove Gil from the rotation late August last season and have him finish the year in the bullpen.

The pitch clock could be a part of this, but if it is, it's due to the pitchers being more mentally stressed and not using proper mechanics, due to feeling rushed than anything else. A few decades ago many pitchers would throw 120+ pitches in a game that barely went more than two hours. There isn't a significant amount of rest needed between pitches.

My guess is that everyone is so focused on spin rates that they're getting far too much of their velocity from their wrists & elbows and nowhere near enough from their legs and core.

Exhale...

Jazz will now stay at 2B while the team looks for a 3B at the deadline. Another SP and some RP arms will also be added.

Too little, too late? The team is 10 games over .500 and will certainly be adding at the deadline. SP, 3B and RP will be added, in that order.

The guy I'd most be excited to add is Suarez. Big righty bat who fits perfectly in the middle of the lineup alongside Judge, Bellinger, Goldy, Jazz, Stanton/Rice with Dominguez breaking out as a real nice leadoff option, leaving Wells and Volpe to move down to the bottom. That's a damn solid cyclical lineup.

Plus, at age 34, he's a guy who can be extended without a ton of commitment. Plus, in the playoffs, he could be subbed out for Peraza for defensive purposes.

Can I ask why Ian freaking Hamilton is starting the 2nd half of the season. Decisions like this are why I can't take the Yankees seriously anymore. They are not going anywhere.

It's like they try to go out of their way to act like they are Tampa, when they should be trying to be like the Dodgers.

Just saw that. First game out of the All Star Break and they go full blown RP starter strategy.

Oyy.

I don't get it (unless they're setting up the rotation for a future series. Even if Rodon's one inning in the all star game made starting tonight impossible (a ridiculous notion) and Schlittler & Fried's arm soreness made them unavailable for this weekend, why couldn't they have gone Strohman and Warren (in either order) for games one & two against the Braves and start Rodon on Sunday?

Just saw that they have the Blue Jay's Monday- Wednesday. I'm guessing they want the best starters for that series.
