Pretty much nailed it.I don't get it (unless they're setting up the rotation for a future series. Even if Rodon's one inning in the all star game made starting tonight impossible (a ridiculous notion) and Schlittler & Fried's arm soreness made them unavailable for this weekend, why couldn't they have gone Strohman and Warren (in either order) for games one & two against the Braves and start Rodon on Sunday?
Just saw that they have the Blue Jay's Monday- Wednesday. I'm guessing they want the best starters for that series.
Against Strider, that game was a gimme loss. I'm just glad the Yankees only used four pitchers that game as the MYP award will go to Brubaker gave up no hits and just one walk in the final three innings. I know @storrsroars is a fan.
Speaking of Pirates, Mitch Keller is one of the starting pitchers the Yankees have shown interest in. He's having a career year w/ a 3.48 ERA, 1.14 WHIP. Not a top-of-the rotation guy, per se, but he's on a very reasonable contract, making just 15M this year and signed on for 18M per year for the next three seasons. Fun mix of six different pitches (fastball, sweep, slider, sinker, curve, change).
