Bullpen has to do a better job. They had big leads and forced the Sox to use Chapman. Then Cora didn't want to use him yesterday and they lose in the 9th. Have to lock down those leads.

Very disappointing. They should have swept. Campbell couldn’t hold the lead on Saturday

Had a weird feeling when Anthony made the warning track catch in the 8th, he was going to go long in the 9th and seal the deal.

That was a hell of a game. Frustrated by all the runners left on base again, but Lowe came up big and then Roman put it away. Now win at least one of the next two.

I think they need to sweep.

I get that they are who they are, but the up and down is incredibly frustrating. Not completing the sweep of Miami is one thing, but coupled with getting swept by the Orioles at home is borderline unacceptable. The schedule is very favorable down the stretch and they tossed away 3 would-be wins vs. inferior opposition like it was nothing. With those wins, The Sox would have been right on the Blue Jays' heels.

One Miami loss was bad. One Baltimore loss was bad. Trevor Rogers was dealing, they weren't beating him. Nobody has in weeks. Best pitcher I've seen this year. A sweep would be nice and we did have our top 3 pitchers lined up, so maybe. But they are 6-1 against NY already this year. 8-1 would be a lot to ask. Fried is tough. Who pitches vs Crochet tomorrow?

Thankfully Seattle has lost 5 straight because the Royals are playing well and pushing for a WC spot.

It's a Bon Jovi series right now. Halfway there. Livin' on a Prayer.

After disappointing against Baltimore in the last series, the Sox are now 6-1 on the road in the last 7. That's an impressive response. The pitching has been phenomenal. Rumors are we may get Tolle this weekend against Pittsburgh. Anthony with two leadoff HRs this series. His power is coming.

Saw a pic on Twitter yesterday. Tolle is the most 35 year old looking 22 year old I've ever seen.

I believe against Skenes. No pressure on Tolle

Roman is hitting lefty pitchers much better lately. I think he has more HRs against lefties now. 5 to 4. Very impressive young man.
Skenes was pushed to Saturday from what I saw.

Edit: now they are saying that it will be Skenes.

Look at this guy. 6'6" 250. Went from college to to single A to the majors in five months. He can mash as a hitter too.

For a team that has tried to save money the last few years this was a complete waste of $21 million. Nice job Bres. Although in fairness he made some other very good to excellent moves this past off season; Crochet, Chapman, Bregman (I think this one was because of Cora), Narvaez.

Breslow is the reason the minors is full of good pitching now and guys like Tolle are up. This was a reasonable gamble and Buehler wasn't bad, he was excellent at times but inconsistent. I think the release is mostly because they just don't see Tolle going back down and Buehler hasn't been a relief arm. I think Hamilton would come up and start before Buehler got another one in a pennant race.

I don't really understand Breslow's comments about Buehler. I don't think they had the intention to let Buehler settle into a bullpen role. They stashed him there because there was no other choice at the time except cut him. So the last week bought them some time to figure things out. They used him once since they sent him to the bullpen. Then again I never understand when Breslow speaks because he sounds like an AI generated used car salesman.

“And our hope and our expectation was, we were going to be able to provide enough runway to give him a chance to settle in and transition into that role and then contribute down the stretch in getting some meaningful outs for us. But circumstances changed, and we had [an injury with Richard] Fitts and losing that length piece in the 'pen and needing a starter tonight, it just felt like this was what was best for the team at this point.”
