The Official 2024 New York Yankees Thread

Wow…Pirate fans are a bitter bunch.
Touché. Being able to easily afford a 20-game ticket package in good seats at PNC Park is simultaneously one of the best and worst features of living here. Good thing I just love watching baseball regardless.

Andrew Friedman, Dodgers President was asked by Tony Rome if the Dodgers are ruining Baseball by signing ALL the best players! He answered:
“We think about the responsibility we have to our fans. They show up every night. They show up on the road. The passion they have for this team. We feel immense pressure to deliver for them. And thus the virtuous cycle of the Dodgers and our fans and how intertwined those things are, really are front of mind for our ownership group. And it’s about continuing to reinvest and continuing to … make this a golden era of Dodger baseball,” Friedman told Rome.

I wish Hal Steinbrenner felt the same way!
He only thinks about the $Billions he's getting!

Soto signs with the Mets - $765 million over 15 years.
Holmes signs with the Mets.

So Hal and Brian, now what are you going to do? Do you rally have a plan? Are we going to sign some older free agents whose better days are behind them? Are hitters still be evaluated on bat speed and launch angle?

I have to admit..these longterm megadeals scare me…but if you aren’t going to roll the dice on a megadeal…you better work your butt off to fill multiple holes in the team. Cashman, you are on the clock.

Teoscar Herndez is available who are we kidding he will be back with the Dodgers.

Cohen just reminded everyone who has (by far) the highest personal net worth in the MLB…

Epic tweet here. Turn the sound down if at work. The very end is hysterical.

Just talking hitters, time to get:
  • A 1B (Hello, Christian Walker)
  • A slugging OF (Teoscar > Santander)
  • A 2B or 3B, plug Jazz in the spot we don't get. 2B seems like a deeper position, overall

Yes on Walker!!

Need 1 top SP to go with Cole, Gil, Cortes, Schmidt and Rodon.

Need a top OF.

How can you let Soto go?!

Haven't followed the Knicks in many, many years. Giants have played so poorly since their last Super Bowl that I can't get the games down here like I used to. And now this. It's tough to be a fan of NYC's traditional teams.

A little bit dated and I’m not sure where the Dodgers collective falls in there but….

Okaaay.

30 years old. A year older than Cole when he signed.

Cole
Fried
Rodon
Gil
Schmidt

Nestor and Stroman still inked

Nestor and Stromen could go to the pen - or - be part of a trade deal. Maybe Cody Belanger. Or a closer.

I would think they'd stick with Weaver as the full time closer. He suffered from overuse towards the end, but he was as good as anyone in the league for the last quarter of the season.

Love this deal!

Cortes and Durbin (the minor league Cashman was hyping a few weeks ago) for Devin Williams.

Williams will be a UFA after this year. So was Cortes.

Williams + Loaisiga back is a good start to retooling the bullpen.

Good move getting Williams.

Weaver becomes the setup man.

I no longer feel Luis Gil will be traded.

Well, this is a no-brainer trade for the Yankees. Taking advantage of a salary dump by the Cubs. Bellinger has also been told he'll play CF next year, but I’m sure his position versatility will be utilized.

I will give Cashman credit…he put up a good fight for Soto and how that he lost out he has aggressively moved to improve the roster.

While I think NY did very well after moving beyond Soto, I'd love to see more help come from their farm system. They spend on prospects, tout them and few seem to make an impact at the MLB level. Be interesting to see how Dominguez does this year, and if they trust 2nd base (or ss if they move Volpe) to a young player.
